anyone out there interested in helping the newcomer by demonstrating a good wand technique or how to clean a rug or chair then please contact me at petereed1@blueyonder.co.uk expenses could be met. before the moderator stops the post please allow me to explain the idea behind the thread. I am in the process of organising an event that could be beneficial to the industry as a whole. as we all know there are people out there even when trained who have the daunting task to clean a carpet and though they have the technical knowledge they lack the practical. i would like to see an event that will bring the experienced cc together with the newcomer to pass on the skills and hopeful create a better industry where the consumer can benefit.
i have an eminent speaker booked who will give a talk on ;
The importance of training
and
how to promote yourself and the company
free food and barrels of beer will be available though a £10 booking fee will be asked for and RETURNED on the day to prevent food wastage so the event will be free
i would like to invite the big chemical companies to bring samples for testing and comparison on the day. also i want to invite cc's to bring your preferred method of cleaning along with hand tools and the like again for testing and comparison
i also want to invite the NCCA so newcomers and experienced cc.s can look at the benefits.
these are just some of the ideas at the moment the event will take place in a few months time anyone interested helping then please contact me and anyone who just wants to have a fun day with the possibility of learning something then please contact me also

lol peter y do u want to get more people to start carpet cleaning ? is it not hard enough to get the work now !!! u be showing your next door neighber next how to clean carpets get the work in and lend him a machine ::) lol

hi the idea is to form an event where people can meet up and share information. at the same time get fed and tanked up if they want if i can get different companies to make chemicals available for testing all the better. i am told i can hold the event next time in a club providing the carpets get cleaned properly though the beer wont be free ,but i need to look in to details. regarding next door oddly enough he is a carpet cleaner and has been for 37 years

i wonder weather directors at asda would go along to a meeting to give there competitors tips?
lets not forget this is a business, i know no other industry where financal information or marketing statigies are shared with competitors, these things are considered 'commercially senitive'.

Of course he would, I'm sure that if you google flight forums you will find them all on there somewhere, on a serious note though, just because someone works or lives in the same area as you does this make them your competition?
There are different cc's living in the same area targeting different markets, from the tenner a room brigade upwards, with regards sharing marketing,how many times do you quote a job to be told what other cc's have quoted already, if they turn up to quote after you then they know what you've priced it at all ready, the same with marketing, once the ads are out its all there in the text so the market is transparent, Andy

look at it differently and go to learn something as the speaker will be talking serious points i intend to find a good man with a good wand technique to demonstrate amongst other things i have in mind along side free beer and food like chris straker says on another forum could be a sunny day out

I like the idea of this event as i know newish cleaners like myself benefit greatly from advice from more experienced cleaners in this business.

Am I being cynical ? You appear to be promoting a t/m system, but need someone else to demo, rather than do it yourself!
There will undoubtedly be a winner from this kind of event and it's pretty obvious who that will be !

ANGIE Its nothing to do with what i promote Its all about educating the newbie and helping one another. i am hoping the day will be informative and fun nothing to do with hard sell. if this is successful it is possible to re create elsewhere around the country organised by fellow cc's who would want to get involved. It looks like i have a man for the job of demo in the wand department. wands are used with portables as well as t/ms. and i am relatively new to the game and do not profess to have the skill to show the newbie i leave it to the more experienced . so yes you are being cynical but nothing wrong with that, so i hope to see you there

ken wainwright has confirmed he will be there with the ncca as well as offering to do some wanding demonstrations. i have taken a few bookings already . i was also offered a spot at the national flood school to hold a similar event if this proves successful and enough people show up it could be worth sorting out. i realise some people may be on holiday and there are other events that month but august 19th i think is a good choice as we need some reasonable weather to create a good atmosphere. if anyone has any questions or wants to contact me then please fell free . petereed1@blueyonder.co.uk

there is a possibility sebo will be there with a selection of vacuums to see and test including the dart. also truvox with dry encapsulation.matt flewit will be there with the wonder wand as well as a selection of pmf, hydromaster and prochem hand tools and wands .i am in the process of trying to obtain a free gift for anyone attending in the form of a tool of some description it could be something similar to the hunter vac for the stairs but not confirmed yet.there will also things be things available on the day for that event only. like the woodbridge t/m range with free upgrade. so pay for the 18 and get the 20 pay for the 20 and get the 25. i negotiated this to help with incentives to come also there will be Paul with the popular card dispensers available on the day. all this and much more to come

I will bring my kleanright hand tool; normally I dump my water and clear out unnecessary items when going to this type of venue as Steve C knows. Steve this time full kit I promise (wonder wand)
How do I get the tenner too you?

not taking tenners decided against it will send out a leaflet with a form to email or fax back to book the freebie and food [ bbq]as well as beer all will get for supporting the event

Well done for organising what looks like being a good day out :D. Its good to see someone breaking the mould and having the enthusiasm to put something like this together which must have taken some doing!
I've been watching this post and now you've got some heavy weight (not literally) respected cleaners and companies on board people are starting to sit up and take notice me included.
Where will the meet be on the 19th August?

thanks for the kind words it is hard work and a mine field of politics but i am hoping [ and looks like ] it will be a success and hopefully be the start of a yearly event . as andy said it s at dorrington farm . but as i have said on others forums i will post a flyer with a form to send back via email and fax to confirm any booking no fee will be taken all i ask is that people who book keep their promise and turn up as food and drink will be bought.
the amount of people who have emailed and phoned me is encouraging, and tells me it will be a good turn out.
