Either option of hose will have a finite life span.

I use the 1" reinforced transfer hose from MachineMart.  In nine years I've had to replace it once and still use an add on section that comes from the original piece.

My mate nearby uses flat hose. He has a long run on a hill so rolls it out down the hill like the firemen do their hoses. Rolling it up takes longer. But he has gone through a couple of lengths since he has been wfp cleaning as the hose starts to break up on the edges after a couple of years.

Please don't slay a small animal. :)
