Title: No need for filters
Post by: 8weekly on July 31, 2017, 03:54:21 pm
There's a guy about to start selling an additive on Facebook that can be added to tap water to prevent spotting:

If his product is as good as his proof-reading I'm not too confident.

There seem to be any number of people on Facebook who seem to want to mix chemicals and come up with some "MagiMax" mix or other.  Weird that people can fail as window cleaners and then think they can become Cussons.  ;D

I wonder if it kills your pump like certain other products you add to your water.

Ironically its only these type people who actually move us foreward. If everyone just accepted what is , then we'd never.... you get the picture.
Wether this guy gets it off the ground is another matter but i strongly believe we will soon see an alternative to purifying water to achieve the same results. I think it was Dave Willis who (at least for me) first mentioned dishwasher tablets and how they leave clean glass. I think he was thinking on the right lines.............. of course there will be loads of people to poo poo the idea.  Just as Chamois leather users would never get their head around squirting water from a carbon pole probably.

Fair point, but most of them are mixing existing products a la Magica one go.

while i agree to a degree - thinking of the likes of Alex ( gardeners ) Steve ( aquadaptor/univalve) these guys had proper products - you can see and feel them - but over the years there have been too man "chancers" who have taken a product - relabelled it then tried to sell it on for 4 or 5 times the price - a case in point is on the general cleaning board where the 'inventor' refuses to make available the MDMS sheets

if there is a chemical that reduces 350 ppm to under 10 and stops spotting then GREAT - but I'm too skeptical at this stage to think its nothing other a money making exercise for the people flogging it

I wasn't thinking along the lines of " a chemical that reduces the ppm ", infact i think the guy said it won't. I don't know him , i've no idea who he is i'm just saying what i read......... but point is i said ..will produce the same results.. forget reducing ppm.

Another case in point is almost everyman and his dog saying to use tap water to clean conny roofs and then brush off with pure. Others say..use UBIk, TFR, Magica one go etc... then wash off !!! And to think we where all sold on pure waters cleaning capabilities ?  ;D

I suppose unlike all the other nonsense out there this product actually claims to do something that can be proved, it will either remove spotting from the glass or it wont.

He's being a bit coy about it. I reckon it was a bs claim tbh.
