Is anyone out there repairing Gardiner's poles as a sideline? (not a service they offer) I have a couple of 18 month old SLX 25's that need new clamps etc and have neither the time or inclination to do it myself ;D

I asked this a couple of years ago and got slated for it. Vat registered and can't afford new poles blah, blah, blah. I've seen people post pictures of poles they've serviced and they look good as new. Definitely a sideline opportunity for someone.

Dont know why anybody would slate a man for making his gear last , it makes sense to me !
Here is a CLX 27 that i refurbed 2 years ago , it was 5 years old then , so now at 7 years its still in use , my old man has the top 4 sections that he does his own windows with , (too tight to pay a cleaner) , and i have the bottom 2 that i pop onto my SLX 18 as and when needed !

I didn't think the CLX had been out that long?

You may well be right , turns out i got it Apr 12 , so its only 5 year old , still not bad to be going strong after 5 years is it ?
I got confused with the xtel hybrid that it was bought to replace , which some sticky fingered feck stole off the roof of my van while i was collecting £3.50 from an old dear , looking back he did me a favour !!!

I bought my first CLX22 pole in July 2009. It was still being used until 6 months ago and still has the original clamps. I chose to use the clamp upgrade I ordered for it on a 4 year old SLX22 my son in law handed back to me when he finished window cleaning.
My old CLX pole was in better condition than the SLX. I had thought of ordering another clamp set for it, but is it worth fitting a new patch to an old pair of Jeans?

if you cant be bothered changing clamps.sell it.someone will have it off you.ive been using xtreme poles for the last few years and their usually knackered within 18 months.im back on the SLX poles so im expecting 2-3 years before replacement.how some of you guys make your main day to day poles last 5 years is beyond me! ;D

Thats how you spot the lazy ones among us Daz ;D

Hi Dazmnod,
I switched to extreme poles 2 years ago now you recommended them because of their rigidity and lightness. Well I couldn't agree more with you. However what I do once a week is spray them with clear lacquer. They are still going strong, so if you fancied going back to extreme this is how to make your poles last longer
Dazzler ;D

Flog my SLX every year. Net effect is that I always have a reasonably new pole at an effective rental price of about £30 - £40 a year.
