Title: builders clean...cement on windows.
Post by: dazmond on July 10, 2017, 07:44:44 am
normally i stay away from these sorts of jobs but i already clean some offices for this company and they ve asked me to do it. ::)roll

most of the windows outside can be cleaned with wfp (bar one particular window which has a fair bit of cement splattered on it)luckily its mainly at the bottom of the window so ill be able to reach it on a ladder(these are tall rectangle windows above a large betting shop on a main road).insides i can clean with a ladder as no furniture in the room.these dont look too bad but will take time.

ive priced up for 3 hours(an hour outsides,2 hours inside).plenty of fresh blades for my unger ninja scraper, virosol, sticky stuff remover at the ready etc.

i have no chemicals to remove cement and no 0000 grade wire wool so its just a good scraper and detergent for the cement.

what do you guys use to make the job easier?as i might buy some chemicals for future use.

this job will probably turn into a regular job(outsides only WFP).

To remove  mortar just scrape keep the blade clean by dipping in your bucket and washing off the little bits stuck on blade.

I found a touch of WD40 will loosen the cement without too much effort. Use a small amount though cos your going to need to wash off the wd40

It's not nice stuff though and you have to watch for 'salty' residue (said monica to bill) when it dries. Took me longer to clean the residue (with vinegar) than it did to clean the cement.

Run, Forrest, run. I always just say sorry, we don't do this kind of work.
