Yeah same thing really, had atleast 10+ walk ups in the last month or so + recommendations, more website enquiries than usual too.  Can't beat walk ups that are customers next door to your current ones, had a good amount of those lately  :)

Me too its flipping nuts at the moment picked up 35 in 2 months all from new enquires. In my experience when you get a load of inquiries like this its mostly down to the weather. Get ready for alot of them in decemeber/january to drop off the list when they realise you are a full weather cleaner.... ::)roll

Are you doing everything you can to make a good impression?

Is your work up to scratch?

Did I read on here that if you get all the jobs you quote for, then your prices might need an adjustment?? 😂😂

I've had many enquiries via referrals & walkups in the last few months. The vast majority I have passed onto other windies.

Just got back from a quote now. £75 in and out clean, ground floor bungalow one off. It's nuts they want me to do it asap. But I'm fully booked Monday, Tuesday. Wednesday  I have a facia and soffit clean, Thursday I'm fully booked and Friday I have an afternoon free. Might not be able to do this one.  Suppose there is always Sunday but that's desperate measures, don't wanna be working Sundays.

In an area I work the local council here in cloggyland delivered leaflets to every house warning of summer window cleaners, cleaners etc, etc warning people to watch out for the criminal element and only use trusted companies/people..... Got so much work from this its hilarious.... hey I might put out the same letter next year myself instead of leaflets :-)

On the flip side I have noticed this year more 'movers'. I have taken on about 6 of those houses where the previous customer moved at slightly higher prices and just like  someone said here a while back... Our business's are built on sand.

I've got quite a bit coming in from my website but 80% is cr@p.
My stepson is leafletting and that is getting some good stuff, but we'll see if it's still good 6 months down the line.  ;D

How true Robbo. :-\

More new enquiries means having to sieve harder through the rubbish ;D

All worth it in the end ;)

In my experience Daz, if you don't have a website, your can miss out on some tasty commercial jobs

It's been fairly stable here.  Lost the odd one due to moving (mostly).  Gained the odd one from walk-ups.  Had a few asking for ad hoc service.  No thanks.  I'll do an expensive first clean if I've got time but ad hoc.  Bumped into one 6 months ago.  Wanted a quote.  Supplied it.  Phoned up recently for re-quote as sun was out (her words).  Original quote deleted as too old and said she couldn't recall it.
No thanks.

Indeed I am.  I've almost completed the first draft on one and I'm part way through the second draft on another.  There's a long way to go but I've done a lot also.  Most importantly, I'm enjoying it.  It's the fine tuning that takes the time and I anticipate a bare minimum three drafts before regarding a work as complete.  Sometimes I take a break from the longer pieces and try my hand at poetry.  That is a real education because it teaches me how to slot words together in the most effective way and, when required, how to use a smaller number of more powerful words.
I prefer spending my free time writing stories and poetry.
The funny thing is that if a customer pees me off too much, they sometimes end up being a minor character in a story.   It can be quite humorous at times but, if they don't fit, I can always edit them out in a final draft :) .
I'm not certain yet exactly where I'm going with it all, but I anticipate having a crack at self-publishing on Amazon within the next couple of years (more  conventional publishers are very risk averse with unknown writers).

I agree Daz. Commercial jobs are just a pita. I'm beginning to question wether to take my contact form down from my website as I get a lot of time wasters from it just shopping for the cheapest price.  Only decent enquiries I get are from word of mouth recommendations.

dont get me wrong i have some commercial jobs but their smallish office blocks, nurseries, childrens homes etc.all picked up through word of mouth and recommendation.some ive been cleaning for 20 years now!

in fact nearly all the work ive picked up in the last few years has been from recommendation alone.
