What do you think ?

nice concept - after the investment in the equipment and running costs is there a profit to be had ?

I'd agree good concept, really cool pay machine for getting water
Makes my combination Paddlock look antiquated
If I charged £25 for 500 litres at current amount we sell i would be making £1000 plus per week
So I'm guessing yes there's profit If enough use it
-
Great machine, however I can't see most people using them at £25 per 500ltr. My prediction is they'll have to reduce the cost or die!
-
There are 2 machines near me; the one shown in the video is about 2 mins from me.
I haven't used them but Spotless Water have text me to see if I am interested and I have downloaded the App. It's very convenient, and seems a very professional set up, but unfortunately it's about twice what I am currently paying.
I think I will give it a go, just to see what it's like and then probably use it for emergencies only.
They drop the price further for bulk purchase, but I am not sure if I come into that category. I may contact them to find out.
-
I think that is very impressive.
Good luck to them.
-
Looks good to me.
Sadly I'm looking at a 200 mile round trip.
:'(
-
Great idea but... will he sell enough water, £25 for 500 litres seems a bit steep, how long til he starts making a profit, are there enough WFP users without an RO?
-
Looks great.
But who in their right mind is going to pay £25 for a days cleaning windows, maybe in London if you are doing 300 quid plus a day, maybe, but you are still an idiot. But for anyone with half a brain surely that price isnt viable.
I suppose in an emergency , youve run out of resin and you are really stuck for that one big job that needs doing.
Even if you tap water was 500tds and you used a single D.I it would still be cheaper to make your own!
-
I think if you buy in bulk you can bring the price down to 4p per litre (but i'm not 100 percent sure).
The problem is, in Bournemouth there are two main places to buy water and both are really good. Both have set times where the water is available but you get used to it. You also get to meet other window cleaners and swap banter blah blah blah. But everyone is friendly and it's great.
Obviously, Spotless Water have had a massive initial investment and need to recoup some of that investment (I appreciate that) and I think the idea is fantastic, especially the 24hr availability. But unfortunately we are back to the price. And as much as I appreciate their investment and what they are trying to do the for the industry (yes I know they are trying to make a profit, but it's still a good idea) I can't bring myself to pay more for an exact product I can already buy for less.
I hope they do well and I would love to use their service but they will have to drop the price a bit for me.
-
Out of interest what are people currently paying or charging for pure water
Ours is 1500-2000 litres a week every week charged between £80-100 per month
-
Cant see them lasting.

Lets just say I know in the next few weeks the price will be reduce a lot

Thanks Mark, I'll keep an eye open.
-
i think you could get a good trade from people with marine aquariums - they would require something like 25 litres once maybe twice a week so that would be ideal for them

Fish shops already flog it to them. If the truth were told at a higher charge than what these guys are charging. However there is a convenience element in the fact that they pick it up when they go to the shop to buy new fish or 10.
I run out of water once on a job in Winchester and call the local fish shop. They sorted me out with 400 L for 20 quid. It saved me a 30 mile round trip to go home and get some more.

His target market is not just window cleaners.
He allready owns a successful valeting company and has franchises in that sector.
The valeting industry has started using pure water to rinse with over the last couple of years jv price are even getting in on it.
One of the partners of spotless has a unit near me and has been selling pure water for years he has a contract with some of the national window cleaning company's that use him you also find a lot of the small window cleaners use them as the take so little water they don't notice the cost.I have watched guys pull up in cars and fill 4 barrels they all use back packs.
Once you start using any volume over 300-400 litres a day buying in water dosen't become cost effective producing it for yourself will then alway be cheaper and more convenient.

I dread to think what the investment must have been! Imagine what one of those containers costs with a huge static system in it plus all the other technology! Probably 10,000L in there. My 10,000 static as seen in my last video was £12,000! Hes going to put several hundred of these around the country!
lol and people thought I was mad!

Downside, at 5p per litre whats to stop joe blogs from getting say 25ltres and cleaning their own windows.
A back pack, cheap make shift pole n brush and were out of a job. Especially if all maid house cleaners etc get a hold of it.

Why reduce the price in a few weeks? Why not charge what is a fair price to start with? Surely he'd get more customers if the price was cheaper to start with? Joe Bloggs just starting up getting charged £25 for 500 litres which he uses on his first house where he charges £15. Joe is out of pocket by £10 for 4 hours labour. Joe decides to buy an RO and save himself some dosh and maybe come out even on the next house he does. Blah blah blah.

you might lose the odd job but i cant see most customers doing their own windows.

Very inventive, but how in winter do you stop the delevery hose from freezing?

I notice it's PPB water and 'only' 4ppl in bulk outside of that London.
I wonder how they measure the purity of PPB??
-
It's the sort of service I might use if my filters fouled up for some reason or the water supply failed due to a mains problem. Paying £25 for 500 litres is better than losing a days work.
Just doing the sums here for using it all the time. It currently costs me about £180 a month for the means to produce pure water (includes waste water portion of RO membranes/pre-filters/resin plus rental of a small unit). This doesn't include very rare stuff like replacing submersible pump and the other odd knicknacks that might go wrong.
Let's say £200 even, if I allow for a rare mishap.
For the same amount of water from Spotless, it would probably cost around double - and I wouldn't have my tool storage facility.
To me it looks fine for two types of window cleaner - (1) those who can't filter at home and have no access to a reasonably priced unit and (2) those who might need the facility for an occasional emergency.
-
very impressive !
I have to agree, the prices are on the high side, we sell water in Brighton for a lot less, £34 for 1000 litres, further discounts for window cleaners filling on a daily basis, we are in the process of opening up self service locations in Crawley & Eastbourne

I think he will make a killing and do really well from it.

Do you think he's had a bore hole drilled and tapped an ro system off of that.m

is that cash ;D

I thought I'd give it a go on the way home. Works really well, I'm impressed.
-
Could be life saver some days to companies. Money wasted going back to yard n filling compared to a purchase from one of those tanks.
Very good idea.
-
I really like the idea, but can't see the need for it. I will never be dependant on someone else to produce my pure water-it's too important. Without pure water you can't work.
If I'm producing it myself, firstly it's cheaper, but most importantly I'm in control.
