Hi all hope everthing is going well
I have a ninja and cleaned some carpet tiles. There had been a spillage of coffee and the staff tried to use vanish and it didnt work so called me in. I did the job fast as possible using a small amount of water at a cold temp as thats what i was advised to do on carpet tiles. however i got a call today saying the coffees gone but the tiles lok much worse as the tread marks are now really obvious.
I dont know what to do as everyone warns against hwe cleaning tiles so im scared to go back and clean more abrassively and i dont know what they will say if i tell them theres nothing more i could do any help guys?
Thanks for any replies in advance

If its only one or two tiles effected, ask them if they had kept any spare tiles, if so, simply lift and replace them.

Don't know why your worrying about cleaning tiles. Most of them are bomb proof. Majority have a manmade pile however there are some with wool.
I take it you have just spot cleaned the coffee stain area. Using cold water and low volume proberbly hasn't removed that much of the residue of the coffee or vanish.
I would go back and have a look and see exactly what the problem is. If the area cleaned looks patchy explain that you will need to do another clean but the area will look different from the surrounding uncleaned section.
Also as mentioned it is quite easy to uplift a couple of tiles and swap them for some in an inconspicious area.

no its the complete tread in the middle as people of walked thru the hallway. Im terified of going to abrassive andf bringing up any bitumen or wrecking them in any other way but do u guys thing they can take a battering then?
Thanks for your time and advice

Hi Ray,
Don't worry it is perfectly safe to clean carpet tiles using hot water extraction and they should come up very well.
If using normal detergents make sure you allow the recommended dwell time after any agitation before using your hot extraction rinse.
If using micro splitters give it plenty of agitation.
The main problem with carpet tiles is that they can look grubby in high traffic area's due to wear & tear and the colours in the fibres merge together and dull, giving the illusion of looking dirty. Also as has been suggested they can suffer from wick back, but just make sure you rinse them really well and extract as much of the water out as you can leaving them as dry as possible.
Hope this helps

Hi Ray
I would not advice the use of HWE if this problem has appeared, you will need , as already mentioned a pad system such as Texatherm,DF or Charly Pads.
There will be some one in your area who has one or other of the systems, where are you located in Essex I might know some one who can help ;)

I use mainly dry fusion on low profile carpet tiles but on some occasions use a normal queen bonnet with either roto-brite or bonnet buff.I have used HWE without a problem but in hard to reach areas a rotary is the way to go like on the 10th floor ;)

Also,
Iv got 900 square foot of tiles to do tommorow, dont look to dirty but have a few dark marks in places looks like sticky spills that have gone black.
