Title: conny roof still green after 90 mins!
Post by: dazmond on June 26, 2017, 05:38:26 pm
i cleaned a conny roof this morning (with virosol)on a bungalow plus windows but most of the panels are still green as its not on the outside of the panels but inside the panels! ::)roll(like its soaked into the polycarbon).

usually these conny roofs come up well but not this one.she still paid me the agreed £80 but i feel a bit miffed that i couldnt make it look good again.she didnt seem bothered and thanked me for cleaning it and ive now added her to my monthly round.i said the only thing you can do is replace the panels.

anyone else had this problem before?

sounds like the ends haven't been sealed and the damp has gone down the insides

I've cleaned one or two that have had large black areas inside them.  Almost looks like a mould growing inside them.  Your right though, it makes you feel like you haven't done a good job even though you've done the best you can.

Why feel bad the algae has got inside the panels you cannot get it out.

I cleaned one conny roof and all the panels came up great but one. They werent in at the time of cleaning (regular customers) and they called me back thinking I had missed a panel. I was still in area for week cleaning windows so nipped accross and explained that it was the panel that had a tint to it for some reason. After climbing on ladders and scrubing a test patch they finally believed me. But they had to go to the trouble of testing it themselves.

After that I stopped cleaning their windows. A bit drastic you might think, but ive always prided myself on being honest and these customers for over 14yrs knew that from previous experiences, ie tried to pay for 3 cleans when it was only 2 for instance.
But also the hubby was a pain for washing his car with karcher and getting carried away and cleaning windows leaving baked on minerals. The amount of times I told them not to because my water is filtered etc, so this was last straw so to speak.

Yep that's it.

Had that twice, one customer was in and showed her.

It was on edge of panel under the white plastic strip by gutter.

Algae was creeping up the little square tube section inside polycarbonate.

Other customer was out but luckily understood, one panel that was a pig to reach as it was sandwiched by the hour had a big black patch :(

Hot water would've sorted that out.

Needs hot water mate, and a new van. Newer the van the better, only a bit new then not so good clean..etc...

Oak trees do this to roofs I had one a few years ago started to clean it then gave up,scrubbed 1 panel for about 20 minutes it didn't want to know I just said sorry it's baked into the PVC which it was even a jet wash wouldn't get it off.
