Title: Masonry Paint on Window Frames
Post by: Robin Ray on June 24, 2017, 06:33:06 pm
Hi, I have a job which has spats of masonry paint all over grey coated Aluminium frames. Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to sort this out? If I scrape at it, or abrade it too much the grey coating on the aluminium will come off.

Thanks

It depends what type of Masonry Paint it is:

If it's a resin or oil based Dulux All Seasons or Stronghold then carefully applied Cellulose Thinners may remove it.
If it's a water based version then very hot water / steam being very careful not to crack the glass.

If the Aluminium Frames are coated in a factory finish then be extremely careful.

best thing to do is not get involved with it , tell them to get the guys back to sort it that did the painting , ive got a good few on these on and new estate and there chipped to death and look real bad due to the fitting and a poor window cleaner befoure hand which leaves me to think there not the strongest of coating in the world they have put on them
