One of my big house brigade text me to say at my holiday home in July and August so don't bother.
She's monthly £30.
Cleaned for her on and off for 4 years.
2 years old house then her and hubby moved and got a call about 2 years later to do current house.
Oh yeh they have an estate agents business 😁
👍👎 you the jury decide 😁
Definitely up for a long wait.
I replied to text "ok, have a nice summer, regards
Lee"
I've found it's better to be the wounded solider, than the little hittler.
-
I would say no thanks unless it was far more than £30.
-
Yep, leave her out, until contacted then say can't miss cleans.
Can offer 2 monthly at £45.
No missing out cleans.
See how that's received 😁
-
From her point of view you can understand her not wanting the windows cleaned when she's not there.
I actually have the opposite to you where I clean quite a few holiday homes during the spring/summer months and they don't want them cleaned during winter. As others have said you just need to make sure you're earning a decent enough rate to make it worthwhile.
-
I really don't see an Issue here. I have one American geezer who only stays here when the weather is bearable (Jun - Aug), I clean his windows then and charge accordingly.
Suits me fine.
-
Its a simple choice, do you want to be her window cleaner when shes back home or not?! Someone else can quite easily clean them for her and be earning.
Some times i think we forget that we are employed by our customers. I have 3 customers who have summer homes and spend 2 or 3 months away. They turn their gas, electric of etc and so what turn off the window cleaner at same time......
-
She doesn't value your service lee. I bet she's kept the grass cutting man on.
I would say to her your round is full and to keep her on you need to do the fronts at half price every time she's away.
If she's not happy with that replace her.
The best customers are the ones who appreciate this is our living.
Nah, second thoughts just nob her off and only tell her why if she contacts you 😁
-
People take this dumping customers who don't confirm to every stringent standard too far.
We all hate messers, bad payers, not this time for no reason etc etc.
But someone like this who wants their windows cleaning 10 months of the years is still worth 300 quid a year to you, why would you dump them? They haven't messed you about and wasted your time they have yold you in advance..Why can't you skip cleans for 2 months? Is your round that's critically balanced to breaking point that you must replace her ?
It's cutting your nose off to spite your face. I would look at it as you are getting 300 quid a year of these people not losing 60 quid a year. On the two months you don't do them one add on job such as a conny roof could cover the shortfall.
-
Or use that time to pop to a carvery
;D ;D
-
I'd keep hold of it. It least they let you know. Two months isn't so bad,is it? You get a decent wage out of them per year still, no?

Don't agree with that. We have a cleaner and when we went away for a month last year asked her to still come every week, it's her livelihood. Maybe it's because it annoys me in my business when people just say no thanks because we're not here. They should appreciate having a regular, professional service IMO.

its swings and roundabouts in this game mate.just take it on the chin.at least she notified you.
i have quite a few jobs i cant clean every month due to various reasons(usually holidays, work being done on the house, front only due to locked gates, etc)but i also pick up new jobs and add ons and clean the backs of some front only jobs so it evens itself out in the long run and im actually relieved sometimes!(so i can finish earlier than usual!) ;D

Surely £30 isn’t big on anyones round?

No way did they come round and clean, well, nothing, for a month.

My biggest job is £30. I did have one at £40 but dumped him as I could never get access.
Got a handful at over £20 but 90% of my round is between 10-15 quid.

You just had to, didn't you ::)roll
Go on then, post some pics of one of your London houses, you know you want too..
Don't forget to get your van and the shrek lookalike you had working for you in a few of the shots. ;D

Yeah and she sat watching Jeremy Kyle while flicking her cherry. Ya donut.

I wouldn't put up with it. But that's just me. Do what you want.
If they want a favour then they have to ask nicely. Not just assume I will do their bidding.
-
I have several holiday homes I clean from April to Sept, I don't mind as it's regular every year and it's convenient with better weather so allows me more time in winter for regulars without getting behind. Charge extra for holiday homes :)
-
I charge clean and a half for bi-monthly
-
Another way of looking at it.
Now im sure youve been late on some jobs, or you've done some jobs earlier, say 3wks instead of 4wks because your taking an holiday. Or you have taken a 2wk holiday for instance........do your customers stop employing you because you have altered the schedule to suit your requirements. Nah didnt think so
-
Just do them three times in September to compensate, Lee.

;D ;D
Interesting most seem happy to except, maybe that's right!
I just think if everyone did that to me I'd go bust!
(realise that's unlikely).
What If I said new price is £36 to customer in question, compensation tax😁
Could also say sorry I've given your space on my round to someone else who wants me all year around.
Thanks for your opinions looks like I'm in the minority 😁
I've just got too much work maybe?
(looking to eject some dead wood).
Rather get round more on time to the real customers.
Find alot of the big house brigade a pain.
e.g trying to impose there will on you.
Basically I have to come when best suits me, tried being all things to all people years ago, just stress and unhappiness.
Just had to get someone to fix my boiler, workmen in general seem so unreliable and unprofessional.
I do my best to be on time, do a good job, be as helpful as possible and keep customers happy.
I don't think some and luckily just some, of our customers realise how lucky they are to have us.
Just felt as if this customer is taking the pi55.
But life goes on 😁 hot and hotter at the moment 😎
Thanks everyone

Of I course I know she wasn't doing 1.5 hours every Friday whilst we were away, there wasn't anything to clean. Each week she did some extra bits that don't normally get done, and it was nice to know there was some activity around the place, especially as we have been broken into before.
Anyway the point was about the window cleaning, when the windows actually will get dirty whether they're home or not. Ya donut.

The way I see it is that it pays to be flexible these days.
I allow my customers to decide what frequency they want. I have some weekly shops, plus residentials from 2 weekly to 3 monthly, as well as a good number who call me as and when they want.
It all works out well for me as I have plenty of work to keep me going constantly, therefore if one of my customers asked me to leave for a couple of months, it would make no difference to me as there are always others to do.

Yep see your point John.
Maybe by September I would have settled down 😁
I do run late often so won't notice.
Just wondering if it's the beginnings of customer being a messer😖
I do have too much work, will see 😁
It's funny how certain customers annoy you.
I think it's because she's never offered me a hot or cold drink.
Which is an outrage 😠😁

It's not just me then.
