Post by: Stephen burton on June 11, 2017, 10:17:00 pm
I cannot get my tds reading down to 000 been like this for a few months now, I currently have 450 gpd ro with the little 750 ml di cartridge and a booster pump I have tried different resins and still the same, it currently goes in the di at 012 never use to be a problem but now won't go below 002, I get about 1500 litres then it's between 004-005 so then change it anyone else have this problem

Yeah I used to , but then changed to an 11 ltr vessel, that lasted about 3 months before it was coming out at 001. Now I have 2 11 ltr vessels . I just got fed up of changing resin every couple of weeks

Get yourself an 11ltr DI canister and problem solved, those small DI cartridges are a waste of time, also when you first
start producing from your RO the TDS will  be very high so run it to waste for five  minutes or so until the TDS has come down before putting it through the DI.

Haha for a rarity i agree with DryClean.

A little vid i did a while ago for something else. But I also use the 450gpd RO but with a larger DI vessel. But mine is only a 4.5ltr one. But point of video is showing TDS creep, along lines of what "dryclean" was saying.

If I suspect my TDS reading is abnormal the first thing I do is calibrate the TDS meter.
And go from there.....

Where did you buy your r/o? What is your tap water tds? What is your pure to waste ratio when producing water?

It will be the d.I. canister faulty.  Probably not sealling correctly on the rubber .

Order another one or get a proper d.i

I had the exact same issuse so bypassed the canister and run it through a proper d.I vessel

Also ensure you pack your DI nice n tight.
If you are going to use a larger DI vessel as well, once your resin is packed in well, run water through the outlet tap as you push the funnel down n through the resin. This will help (top tip).

Cheers for all the advice everyone
I have purchased a 11 litre di vessel, the bloke from the shop said they are a pain to fill compared to the little 700 ml cartridge I was using, any tips would be appreciated before I try it for the first time, cheers

Gardiners sell a large funnel that makes filling with resin a little easier.

The easiest way I've found to fill an 11ltr resin vessel is as follows:
Fill a clean window cleaning bucket or washing up bowl half way with fresh resin.
Add water (preferably pure) until resin is a slightly sloppy consistency.
Then just pour it into the resin vessel.
Repeat until resin fills vessel just above the neck.
Should only take a few minutes from start to finish.
Job done.
