Just nosey.

Drag myself out of bed, not this again, is how I am every morning ;D
If anyone enjoys cleaning Windows, day in day out, then there's something seriously wrong with them.
It's no more fun then standing on a production line doing the same thing over and over and over etc etc etc.
The money and freedom are the only motivational factors that keep me in this job and give me any sort of encouragement to get up in the morning.
I bet not a single person on this forum grew up with the dream of becoming a window cleaner. For one reason or another most of us just "fell" into the profession, but are now bound to it as we know we will never earn this sort of money anywhere else.

Slept realy well last night(for once) so woke naturaly this a.m and just lay there for an hour till alarm went off at 7am.
Havnt got much work on today so feel great!
Love my job still.

Its bank holiday isnt it?
At least i hope so because i dont work them ;)
But in general it differs, a lot will depend in the weather and what jobs i have on for that day, i have some days where i know not many will be in and its a breeze of a day, i have other days where the work is more of a slog.
Im usually quite motivated on a monday as its the day of the week where i graft the hardest, try to start as early as poss, finish as late as poss and get through as much work as poss. That way when it gets to the end of the week i can take it easier.
-
I don't usually like Mondays and I'm not a morning person either.
But today I don't have to get ready for work and do the school run so it isn't as bad as normal.
-
I'm out pressure washing a patio and drive...i much prefer it to window cleaning :)
-
Bank holiday, my boys slept at their nannas. My baby girl slept in as shes a very good sleeper. My mrs was up b4 me n just chilling downstairs and me, well i rolled out of bed gone 11. First time in many years to have a good lay in. (My boys are normally up any where between 6.30 n 7am)
A normal week, roughly up half 7 after fed up of the noise from the boys room. Then pending weather outside i either drag myself of to work or drag myself of to work 😂😂 by 2nd coffee in morning im awake n start working properly
-
im always up early but i like a few hours before i leave for work to make a packed lunch, flask and have a good leisurely breakfast then im ready to go.bank holiday so i didnt work yesterday plus i had the whole of last week off.
ive got a mates funeral to attend this afternoon so im off to the gym soon.start back tomorrow and ill be working the rest of the week including sat.
-
i dont have a problem with motivation usually but obviously after a few months window cleaning 4 or 5 days a week it can start to wear you down and thats when its a good time to have a holiday or just take a week off like ive just done.i have 6-8 weeks off a year these days.i need it for my general well being IMO.
-
Didn't work yesterday so I've got windows for next couple of days then pressure cleaning and gutter cleaning for a few of days then back to windows. Today I'm starting windows 50yds from my house and can't be arsed leaving. If I had my trailer sitting there I'd just get the wellies on and get on with the pressure cleaning.

Drove up the road, forgot the battery! Back to the house chucked the pole on top of the tank, fitted the battery and drove up the hill and a car starts blasting it's horn.... Pole fell of the pickup! Great start.

12 tds would of been ok to work with till you got home!

Was a recovery day from the night before and the day before that...Never again as they say until the next time. lol
-
I can't get away from my customers. I went out for a nice leisurely walk yesterday, with my wife and daughter along the Chelmer river, (bout half hours drive from where I live) and met some of my customers doing the same walk. Mind you it is a pretty spot so not too surprised.

Reminds me of 2 tales.
The first, i had a phone call whilst loading car up when i used to be on trad tools. Put ladders on roof bars and took the call. Finished on phone n drove home, slowly navigating streets untill on dual carriage way and put foot down. Noticed ladders sliding and panicked, foot straight on brakes and ladders shot off down dual carriage way. Thankfully no cars in front and none behind,,,,i was extremely lucky!!
The 2nd i did some night guarding on a building site about 4yrs back. So finished day of windows and went collecting. Afterwards home until i had to set off at 9pm. Put my steel cap boots on top of car whilst sorting some stuff out.....
Got to the gates to sign in and the people on gates just broke out laughing. I had travelled 10m on motorway and arrived with my boots still on top of the roof 😂😂

I must have something wrong with me then.
I get up in the morning happy to still have a pulse and more than content for just being alive and able to see, hear and sense the world around me. I enjoy window cleaning every single day.

That's what's known as being able to pull the wool over your own eyes its a handy ability to have in a job like this, as long as this detachment from reality doesn't follow into other aspects of your life where it could cause problems then there's nothing really
to worry about.

lucky and grateful are 2 words that spring to mind when i get up in the morning.loads of people have no jobs,no money or work for min wage in real dead end jobs.friends dying of drink and drug abuse in their mid forties after losing everything, job, wife, family, friends, hospital admissions, jail and finally death. :'( :'(
count your blessings, youll be happier for it.earning 40k+ a year for a low stress job like window cleaning working 25-30 hours a week is beyond any of my dreams/aspirations i had when i started window cleaning.at the time i just needed to earn some money so i could get another packet of cigs and a bottle of brandy.

What a fantastic attitude.
The question is though for us who are naturally pessimistic how do you change your mindset to optimistic.
Its true that everything around us is dictated by our thoughts. If we think life is great it is, of we think it's a chore it is.
Reminds me of a quote "nothing is inherently good or bad but thinking makes it so"

Don’t feed the negativity.

if you really hate window cleaning then you need to get out now and do something else.its not for everyone. a big chunk of your life is spent working.ive made window cleaning more profitable for me over the last few years through refining work and charging more/price rises etc which helps with motivation.being very organised also helps.
discipline, tenacity and perseverance are essential IMO.

Regards not being good at mornings.... On exercise near ATR Pirbright (many moons ago) I was cooking my breakfast at some ridiculous time in the morning and left my rifle next to the burner. When I noticed the rifle magazine was fecking roasting, I and twenty others were lucky that morning as we ALL would have got a roasting up and down the many hills if it had popped.

It was chucking down with rain this morning, so we were in the gym for 9.30 am. I did some weights, put on a talking book, and spent an hour on the treadmill, and thrashed myself.
Then it was down to Weatherspoons for a large breakfast.
I love being a window cleaner. ;D
