Title: Crap Day
Post by: Neil Grainger on June 07, 2006, 01:00:09 pm
Phone's not rang for 2 days and then the two jobs booked in today have both gone bust.

First job, Turned up after quoting Husband agreed price and told of any problems. I get their today and the Wife says that she knows nothing about the job and does not want carpets cleaned. Strange I no.

Secound Job, My fault as I took it from agent over phone when I was on Holiday.

Turned up and carpets looked like they had 40'000 football supporters walked all over them, edges not fixed down and no underlay on them. Walked away!!!!

Nice two job day worth £380 and then nothing.

May was a great month but June is very quiet.

Need cheering up.

neil,
if it's any consolation, it's been very quiet here too, i think the sunshine has diverted peoples attention away from the home and into the garden or beach!

things will pick up, they always do :D

I have every sympathy.

My crap day was one day the week before last when I tore a ligament in my back hitching my Ninja onto the van ( like all of us, I have a technique to pivot the machine up, but I got it wrong). No laughs from van mount owners please - you are already too cocky by half!

Today is a great day. My new aluminium ramps bought on eBay arrived. Bliss.

Steve

I bought them from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Robin-Ramps. They cost me £49.99 plus a fiver carriage. I ordered the light wheelchair ramps, but they gave me the option of having wider ramps for the same price to save me waiting an extra few days.  The ramps are advertised as working at a maximum height of 200mm, but they fit a treat on my Fiat Doblo Cargo, which has a load height of 400mm. They are made from chequerplate aluminium and I'm well impressed. Of course, you may have a local engineer who can make the same thing but cheaper.

If anyone is interested, I can post a photo tomorrow of the ramps in action.

I've really ramped up my business today.

I've had the big wheels and an extra grab handle fitted to the ninja and cost me £60. I'm just wondering if it would be an easy DIY job to bolt on some wheels from B&Q for a tenner.

The wheels help but you have to be careful you don't catch the brass connector or exhasust when you put it in the van.

Hi all,

I've just had my best few weeks since I started and yesterday was the most money I've earnt in a single day (was working till 4am this moring though doing a wine bar).

This week has been very quiet telephone wise though. I also haven't had a call for 2 days. As usual though just when you start to worry things turn around for the better. Like waiting for a bus, nothing then a few all at once!

Get outside and enjoy the nice weather, it won't last forever!

And on a positive note, the footy starts in less than 2 days!!!!

Come on england!

Kind regards,
Jason.

Hi Len

D'you know, I hadn't even thought that the zebra stripes could look like the before and after of a carpet clean (no really!). Or perhaps you are referring to the small images of carpets!

Have a great day everyone - it's going to reach 27C today, even here in darkest Yorkshire.

Upset because I lost it, Does not happen everyday though.

Nothing today though, Does major sporting events stop people spending money on things like Carpet cleaning?

Cheers
