Title: Buying a competitors mobile number
Post by: pro-fresh on April 18, 2017, 05:29:05 pm
Hi all

I have had a phone call off a local carpet cleaner who is retiring from  the carpet cleaning business after 25 years, he has offered me his mobile number for £1500, it seems a reasonable price as he has a lot of repeat  customers as you would expect after 25 years.
How would we go about the sale of a number? have any of you done this before?

Thanks Kev.

If I was buying something like that I would want to see some evidence to back it up its a bit expensive  I got a website much cheaper came with stat reports etc. on a plus it could be very good for you to buy it instead of someone else

Some questions.......

What's happening to his landline?

Where is his mobile advertised?

Is he saying his customers main contact number for him is his mobile number?

What's happening to his database?

Where everything else getting sold?

He might be selling his landline to one person, his mobile to another, and his database to someone else  :-\

Thanks for the quick replies. He only rang me a couple of hours ago so I havent got all the info. I do know that he doesnt advertise anywhere so the number isnt linked to any website etc.
I thought that maybe a safer way to do the deal would be to pay him something like £200 a month, then hopefully the jobs coming from his number would cover the payments.
Its a bit of a dilema really as I am pretty busy myself, so taking on someones number could be a bit too much, but on the other hand I wil  giving the oppurtinity to another carpet cleaner if I dont take it.

Hi Kev

I might have some thoughts on this but I'd prefer to talk to you direct.

Ring me on my mobile. I think you still have my number.

The  biggest question is how does his prices compare to your own,  no point buying the number if every caller wants his really cheap prices ( if he is cheap) his price structure needs to be similar or higher that your own

He is a bit lower priced than me, but that may not be a bad thing as I will have to lose a few of his old cheap regulars anyway because I wont be able to take on all of the work.
I will give you a call today Roger, if your around?
