Title: How much to fibre glass whole van ?
Post by: Don Simon on April 18, 2017, 04:36:12 am
Tried protectacoat but not tough enough for heavy gear, so was thinking of getting it fiberglassed.
Easy job or will it a few days do you think ?

I have never bothered with anything in any of the vans I've had...

Waste of time and money ;)

My first van, still current van of 2years, came fully fibreglassed in the back. Ive had prrssure washers lifted in and out as well as previously lifting hose reel in and out the van. Its been great!  Had a couple of leaks and over filled tank in van in early days but not overly fussed as its all fibre glassed. It looks well smart as well.
This is what the inside of my van looked like when i purchased her

In answer to your question.
Now with warmer weather you could do it in a weekend. EBay sells kits....you buy by square meterage, includes all you need, matting, resin, gel coat etc. ....you'll need to measure up and choose what's right for your van. Typically kits come in at under £100.  Search for Mark Monroe's YouTube vid on how to do it.... :D

BedlIner is very good. A fairly safe, epoxy two pack that you shake and spray from the can. Does take about 3-5 days to fully cure though. If the metal is in good nick the coating should out last the vehicle.

It should make it bomb proof too....
