Title: HELP!big boy backpack wiring

hi all,i have ordered a new variable resistor for my backpack and it arrives with 3 wires instead of 2 like the old one.The wiring diagram is all in chinese and i dont want to guess.I presume this part is more like a potentiometer so i put one wire to ground,any help would be much appreciated  cheers toby

Generally the wiring would need to go as follows:

Red -  is the Feed from the Battery/Pump
Blue - is the Neutral from the Battery
Black - is the switched Neutral to the pump
