Do you sometimes feel like this job is too easy? 4 weekly round , windows aren't too dirty , I go home at dinner and think wow I just flew through a load of work.
Sometimes it feels like I'm dreaming 🤑

I was doing some solar panels today and was just thinking "I love my job".
I do, I feckin' love my job.
-
Regular repeat cleans are a doddle I agree. I do much prefer doing a really grubby one off though, so you can notice the difference.

Totally agree, first cleans/ one off's are harder but can really see the difference and get more satisfaction

Yeah, just ignore the runs and spots and hope the customer never notices.
They never do.

i only had 3 commercial jobs booked in this morning.9am-12pm.£50 an hour.whats not to like? ;D
the boiler guy next to me has been working hard all day probably for the same money(if not less).i dropped the car off for a full service and cam follower replacement at 830am at local garage, went to work and i was home for 1215pm.picked car up at 1pm and then chilled out all afternoon. :)
some other days are harder though! ;D

Do think we have the best job many a times, especially when your fortunate to reach that point (as in not still building up your rounds).
Called it a day after 30 easy houses, several coffee breaks and a little time on here browsing. Finished before 4 and casually washed the outside of my van before packing up for the day.
But if the wive asks, we all have to agree how hard a job we have ;D ;D

That's funny, I was chatting to a mate this morning, he's an air conditioning fitter. He'd shown me some pics of his mothers place who'd had another local cleaning company in to do some gutter and connie cleaning. The other crowd had priced it in at £140. I said 'the price is about right'. Then he asked me how long it'd take. I told him an hour and a half to two hours.
His response was 'Cuh, you window cleaners'. 😜
This fella I know earns more than you're implying the fella was earning you were chatting to though.

I know an air con fitter he earns goodish money but he has to do so much travelling he's had enough of it,he does a lot of airport jobs and most of it is just replacing filters on a monthly basis even though they don't necessarily need changing. It's nights into early mornings and he's miserable.,I wouldn't swap you've only got to talk to people about there jobs to know when you've got it good. I know it can sometimes seem mundain but you've got look at the overall picture.

No wonder every man and a dog wants to start up window cleaning with posts like this. Bearing in mind anyone can view this forum including custards on tinternet without creating an account. lol
-
That's right smurf .... the secret is out the bag thanks to me 🙄

When you have a sorted round of easy access, easy to clean work with pleasant good paying customers this job is fantastic.
I too had a day like this today, banged a load of work out, no issues, started at 9 was home for just after 2 and felt like wow money for old rope this lol
But i have other days that are a slog, underpriced or just dont like the custy or other issues etc but im still building.
-
The longer I do this job, the less I like it!
-
I drive around beautiful countryside and stop at nice houses to listen to Radio 4 comedy, drink tea and earn money.
Personally I feel I have the best job in the World.

Excellent, more cheap hardly used equipment when they find out the truth. lol.

i have days like that(without radio 4 though!).its took a long time to get a good quality established round with these sorts of customers though.

do you honestly think people that start up window cleaning make the sort of money some of us make from the off?
not a cat in hells chance.most give up after a year or so(if that)as they simply cant find enough work and dont make enough to live on,find it boring or simply find it too much like hard work.it takes years and years to refine your round into a good stable profitable business.
then theres the stigma of just being a "window cleaner"(in other words a thick high school dropout! ;D)
-
The new ones that start up don't bother me
I'm not being arrogant but most are too thick, haven't thought it through or are not as determined as me to make a living for my family
Daz is correct, probably 90% don't make it through one winter
I've met some of the exceptions though.
So nice guys amongst us
Some thugs as well ;D

It's easy to tell that the sun is shining ;D What would these posts be like in the middle of winter?
-
Winter can be miserable
I was miserable working for ICI for twenty years
Especially when walking into the plant at 18.30 hrs in the pouring rain or sleet on a Saturday night for a twelve hour night shift.
I'll take window cleaning winters any day
I've been through nearly 30 of them :o

In winter it's ....... I hate this job , my fingers feel like they're gonna drop off and my hose keeps freezing 😬
-
I wouldn't like to be starting up a fresh now .I was ok because my dad started window cleaning over sixty years ago and we have a good name and we'll known in area but it's a lot harder staring up now

If I was a newbie reading this forum I would just create a round full of rubbish, underpriced work. Get the sack then immediately pick up ten times more at triple the price- can't fail!!
-
Thank fully this forum is a good place for them to look as its full of great advice and what can be achieved. A huge majority on here have been in this job for a good number of years and thats why we can take it a little easier now, talk how many houses we can do in a day or a tabboo subject "prices" because weve worked damn hard to get it how we have now and perhaps reaping the added rewards. Whilst at same time acknowledging how newbies might find it in a saturated market. But when i started off and im sure im not alone, we didnt offer free cleans to build a round or badly undercut or knowingly undercut others just to get a foot in
-

i earn virtually the same money in autumn/winter as i do in spring/summer.its the same work all year round(i usually have more add ons in the warmer months though so slightly more earnings)
