Im a little puzzled. I had a small pool of water in my van, which i couldnt work out from where. But then i saw it was leaking from the filter before my pump. I took the top off and this is what i found:

Inside its solid. There is a washer that sits inside for its obvious purpose, but in a normal one the space behind is hollow. Whereas in mine it is like a clear solid plastic. I have replaced the filter and solved it but not sure why it happened and how its happened. Has anyone any ideas??
Thanks in advance

Hot water has made the plastic go opaque.

Looks like hypo damage to me for the filter mesh to go black and the clear plastic to discolour like that.
-
No hypo been used in tank or pump. Just pure water and now heated water.
But im not sure as to why, not so much the discolouration but its kinds full of melted clear plastic.
Sorry as i cannot take a photo of it as it doesnt show up as easy to see on the photo.

Are the balls in your tank heatproof and your tank for that matter ? because that looks like a degraded plastic that's
building up in the filter.
-
Errrrrr, you did Hoover the tank out after you drilled the hole through it didn't you. ::)roll
Just hope it's the plastic swarf melting and not the tank wall.

Cheers soupy, I'll order one of those.
As regards being confused i madd myself confused with what i thought was some type of plastic melting going off. Having a closer look at the new filter i see that it is very similar. But its obvious the hot water has had a part to play in this and so the brass fitting should solve this issue.
Thanks for all concern/help
