Why do particular posters put ‘lol’ at the end of most statements when they’re trying to make point?

It seems like they’re trying to lighten the point they’re making without the opposing person taking offence  ???  ???

I prefer to use an emoji but it don't work with the browser I'm using.  But can't be arsed to use a more compatible browser. Anyway it's time for my afternoon nap now as I've had such a hard day doing bugger all.
