Title: Customer replies
Post by: sunshine windows on March 25, 2017, 09:09:27 am
Thank you for the quote. As it is an extremely high quote for a normal sized conservatory we have found someone who will do a professional job at a fraction of your quote.

Sally Higgins

This one made me chuckle a bit 😂

Bless'em - they spend over 10K on a conservatory and baulk at having it cleaned thoroughly on an annual basis.

How much did you quote?

That rules me out then. lol
Seems lots of newbies starting up but guess they will learn the hard way.

Let's hope she is using a professional. They can be cheaper than amateurs.

Dear Sally, (I'm not prufeshnul enuff to call you Mrs. Higgins.)

I am so sorry to hear that we have lost your business to a "professional company" that charges a fraction of our price. I really love being in a conservatory scrubbing away with rough grade wire wool on a hot sunny day, using a jet wash on the insides of opened doors and into joints getting all the crap out and letting all the water dribble in to the electrics.

Most of all I shall miss moving your gargantuam rattan sofas outside and picking up the dog hair/chewed sweets/used condom/dead mouse from underneath.

Best wishes with your professional clean and if they want to borrow my windowvac send them over as it is becoming increasingly redundant.

Yours Sloppily,

Sunshine Windows

Put it this way they decided to go with Thomas Sanderson. lol.

Quite amazing isn't it what two different people will view as a fair price for an identical serice in the same area.

I've had people baulk at £x for conny clean and a few doors down snap your arm off for double.

There was a bit of travelling involved, so I added £30 to our minimum charge of £150 for non customer one offs on conservatories.

£180 external and £180 internal.

Thought that was quite reasonable considering it was a clear glass roof, which are a pain in the arse to get spotless.

How long do you think it would have took you to clean including travel  ?

I'm a bit out of practice with conservatories, but I did one last week which took 90 minutes. Only average size. I reckon if it's a one off it's not an unreasonable price for the south. There would be loads that would do it for a lot less though. I would too for a regular customer.

About a 40 min round trip travel wise and about 2 hours cleaning time

What for a full deep clean including the conservatory roof inside and out?
I know I'm slow but some can take me 5-6 hours on my own to do properly.  Mind after saying that Thomas Sanderson normally takes two men  a day to do and charges a wee bit more. lol

I can do most conservatory roofs to a good standard pretty quickly now after 7 years of doing them. ...£180 is a very high price imo

I thought £60 was about right for a conny roof + Monthly cost of windows

I charge min of 70 for conny roofs but thats for my regular window clients.
Think the most ive charged for cleaning a con roof is £100. That was for about 2hrs work as well.

Sorry, I wasn't expecting to get the inside as I can't stand doing them.

The time was for externals only

I should charge more as they're a pain to clean especially when the custard doesn't have an outside tap

Some roofs take little time to do tbh I don't feel the need to go to over the top on price with them,I've said before in some cases I charge very little to do a few panes of glass on a roof it ain't worth the hassle I'm making enough on the house itself. I don't get into 1 offs on conservatorys cleaning house windows are easier and less hassle all round.

There's very few average sized ones that take under an hour unless done every clean. An average size green one is 90 minutes work I'd say.

I don't charge the earth to do them but I can do a complete conservatory roof in just over half hour unless access is bad .and before anyone says anything I don't do a poor job either it's all about having the right gear

I hate doing conservatory roofs. I would rather start up a conservatory demolition business, but I would be happy to do it for nothing so....

I will only do them if the customer is an exsiting regular customer, and I charge by the hour at £50.

To be honest even I am in agreement that  £360 for conservatory roof clean inside and out is a bit high especially if it's done in a morning. I would feel well and truly ripped off at that price.

In general to do a full inside and out clean for an average conservatory putting a price on it as a quote is hard. It takes me around 5 hours to do a fairly large glass conservatory to a perfect standard.  But I do not seek out the work as I hate it.

Who cares, he says he doesn’t do a proper job. Thats obvious, it takes all sorts. Some customers want a brush and rinse down, some want the full works and some want something in between.

I gave a price of £65 for a small roof and the home owner turned round and said "Get out of my house!" He thought i was a con man  ;D I said its an hour job though! He wasn't happy. His roof is still dirty though.

I would never do a conservatory unless it was on one of my particular jobs,it's time consuming awkward and makes me no more money than me walking round a house trouble free cleaning windows,I'll clean roofs on these jobs cos I don't want them getting someone else in that may say they'll clean the windows while they are there so to speak. Just seen a Thomas Sanderson advert an hour ago on TV they are offering an inside clean for free when purchasing the outside service.

Slacky you hit the nail on the head you don't need to spend to long on a canny roof as long as it looks a lot better than it did before you started it never had a complaint yet
