Title: Is it any good??
Post by: wtatum on June 04, 2006, 09:13:02 pm
Hi guys,

please forgive my ignorance but i've got my hands on a karcher carpet cleaner, it has no model number on it, it's lawnmower size with a metal spraybar on the front and a clean water reservoir and waste reservoir on on top.( which is removable). Please be honest if you know this machine what are your veiws on this. It's not for a part of the business but for personal use, it was free and want to know if it'll clean my carpets in the house without ruining them, i've not really got anywhere to test it on a small spot.

many thanks
wayne

No one else is saying anything so I will give it a stab.  If the machine is lawnmower size, then its not up to much.  I have seen (not used) the machine you are talking about, and I don't believe it could clean a dirty carpet.  If you have a clean carpet and just want to "freshen it up" it will work providing you use the correct technique.

However, you may get problems such as browning, shrinkage and plain old soggy carpets if the vacuum is not up to snuff.

If your carpet is worth more than £1000, get a professional!

Thanks bernard

it is a clean carpet and i do just want to freshen it up, hoping to remove the dog smell on it and the small marks, i'll give it a go tomorrow, just one quick one i actually picked it up today and the base is slightly larger than lawnmower size and the height is about twice as high.

One more question whats the best way to use the damn thing, teqnique wise, i've figured out the buttons and functions. My brother gave me some tablets to use with it so i presume they'll be okay.

Thanks

Wayne

Do yourself a favour and call a pro.

Youll not move the dog smell unless its very slight and the marks should be pretreated.

The cleaning solution is applied after vacuuming.  Nothing is usually needed in the tank for light cleaning.

If you must .................then make sure the 'tablets' are for carpet and not cars.
