Just ordered one as an everyday pole.
If it doesn't let me double my daily rate I'll send the boy round to give Dazmond a slap. ;D
-
just received a 22 extreme this week and I really like the new version.
No clamping on the metal bands is nice, and is definitely more rigid.
Probably going to Treble your day rate to be honest. That's what the "3" stands for.
;)

you wont earn any more money with it but itll be an easier working day for sure malc.
it wont last long though(i reckon 18-24 months tops using it every day)before the sections are wafer thin and snapping(esp the top 2 sections).
still a great pole though for ease of use day in/day out. :)
-
Best not to try pushing windows shut with it either as they have a tendency to snap.

I think the v2 was susceptible to that with the weak points by the bands.
The v3 is much stronger. That said it's so light I can clean open windows while they're open

as long as your not shutting them with the first section fully extended you should be ok.
-
I'm still using first mk1 extreme and I close windows often with it and there's years left in the pole, closing windows can require a different techniques I tap brush on window till it starts moving then lean on please to close, but initial force is with tapping brush on it to get it moving saves stress on pole.

I've had my Xtreme 22 for about ten weeks now and love it. I took my SLX 25 out by mistake on Wednesday. I couldn't be bothered to go home and fetch the Xtreme and so worked with the SLX all day. On Thursday I took the Xtreme and boy what a difference. I'm sure you'll be very happy with yours

Not much use if that's the case

ive shut windows with xtremes for years and never snapped a section when doing so.
-
Just don't come crying on the forum if it snaps as all I will say is "I told you so" lol

;D ;D Give me a SLX any day! !
The extremes ain't worth the money if you ask me...sections on SLX last longer ;)

I have had an extreme for nearly 2 years now and shut many windows without breaking it , its on its last legs now as its worn but only works out £300 per year for a very lightweight pole .
-
I used a 25 extreme as everyday pole - had to replace quite a few sections . I continue to use 47ft extreme because it is light for high work.
I use 25ft slx as everyday pole now as lasts 3 to 4 times as long at half the price.
I just use extreme brushheads on all poles to keep weight down.
22ft- 25ft extremes are a real luxury .
Makes more sense to use slx at this height.

wow 300 a year I have had an slx22 for 5 n half years still going strong using it 6 days a week and I think I only paid around 250 ish

I have an slx too and its a great pole ......but the extreme does make work easier , especially over connies /extensions and in the scheme of things its not that much money.
-
Yep, less than £30 a month to use the lightest and most rigid pole on the market.
Your shoulders will thank you as the years go on, you can't put a price on that.

So true.
I've had x2 cleaners come up to me in the last few months complaining of shoulder / forearm trouble and they use heavier poles. They've tried my Xtreme and couldn't believe how light and strong it was.
I've got an SLX but only use it if a clamp needs glueing back on the Xtremes (I've got 25, 18+extension to 22') which is very rare.
They're well worth the extra dosh for the way they make a working day easier on the body imo.
-
Hopefully it will arrive today ...
Now it gets better (for me). Instead of running an SLX25 I run it as an "SLX20" by not having the biggest section on for routine work. This means I get extra reach over an SLX18 but with the same number of sections.
I'm gonna do the same with the extreme 3 so it will be an "Extreme 20" - and I'm trying a lighter brush too.
-
the best brushes to use with these poles is obviously the xtreme brush but the ultimate brushes too are good if you want a few more bristles but not much more weight.
the lightest you can go is an xtreme brush and carbon gooseneck.poling is virtually effortless! :)
-
SLX 25....univalve....X line mono brush(without rinsebar).
The ultimate wfp combination ;D ;)
-
Think iv made my mind up , gonna go for an xtreme 22 for my everyday pole next month
-
I've just got the new extreme 22 and its good, better than my mark two version. Also got the new xtreme natural hair brush, excellent combination. I started buying extremes due to dodgy elbows but since I have been using them the pain I used to get has all but dissapeared.
-
were going to have to replace 1 of our guys extrme 22 every year due to him being very heavy handed but its worth it for pain less joints , you win northing in this life for have the oldest pole in use ,
we fine that for the first three mounhs of a new pole you will earn a bit more daily due to it having nice new stop tape ect ect which when added up covers the price of it so it costs you northing in the end
he wished he went on the lighter gear three years ago what ever the cost , as when your in pain it easy to call it aday at 4 and miss out on 2-3 jobs because your joins just cant take anymore that day , and buy the end of the week your doing 7 jobs aday less because your arms are hurting and your working slow it adds up too a lot of loses £ when all added up 500 a year for a new pole is cheap
-
For those moaning about aching arms.....Get in the gym ;D
-
I prefer the CLX poles. Last 3 years plus with constant use. Not heavy either, still light for what they are, and I have tried lighter poles but I find that if you really need to scrub the window, the light poles are harder to use on those cases you just can't get the pressure on the window. With a heavier pole you can use the poles own weight to your advantage. But that's my opinion.

sorry marc i have to disagree mate.ive had clx,slx and xtreme poles and using xtreme poles makes it EASIER TO SCRUB A DIRTY WINDOW AT HEIGHT due to increased rigidity.(more bend and its harder to scrub effectively)

i go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week (mainly weight training) but still use xtreme poles as it makes your working day easier and less stress on the elbows. :)

I get ya. I do. 8) I don't do lots of really high stuff anymore. Mostly domestic now, and a bit of commercial.
Now you want to know what a heavy pole is, try extending a brodex carbon 65 ft up the side of a building in London. That was heavy even with two people, like holding a small tree.

It is not a muscle issue but rsi - damage to ligaments and joints caused by repetitive use. Strengthening the muscles around the joints may help.
I damaged a rotator cuff cleaning solar panels over a year ago and doing a set of exercises prescribed by a Physiotherapist helped a lot.

Same here dd, I also had problems with my rotator cuff, a few physio sessions backed up by an exercise routine got rid of it. Now I alternate the way I hold the pole throughout the day to stop it recurring.

Personally I've never found that the stop tape can speed you up ??? But if it does speed up your heavy handed guy why don't you just replace the stop tape every now and again like you are meant to do?

Golfer sand tennis elbow. Before the opp I couldn't wipe my bum...SERIOUS. So how would I lift weights :)
My gym days are over. Years of wear and tear plastering etc.
MY ADVICE TO YOU ALL is. Keep it as light as possible, no matter what the cost. Eat well and keep fit.
I now live on ibroprofen. Not good
-
A course of steroids a couple of times a year will build you up
-
Well I used it today. It's like using a pencil.
Luvly.
-
once you get used to the xtreme malc the slx will feel like a lead pole! ;D
its the lateral pressure at height thats bad for the joints esp for 5-6 hours a day so the xtreme minimises this. ;)
-
when you talk about closing windows do you actually mean pushing them closed or bouncing the brush off the frame to close them
-
Our smallest pole is the SLX 30 use it most of the day unless using bigger poles
-

Guessing bouncing the brush on the bottom frame

i'm 52 years old and been cleaning windows for 7 years. I had tennis elbow and golfers elbow (through working on computers for 20 years, and it's not funny). Since I have been using a lighter pole, (Xtreme 3, 22 foot) the pain in my elbows has become much less. I don't even notice it now. My friend is a carpet layer and his knees are knackered, another of my friends is a plasterer and his bones are not good (always working in a damp environment). You young guys love saying how you go to the gym and how strong and fit you are and that's great. If you spend all that time going to the gym and spending money, then spend a bit more and get the best equipment possible. Hopefully in the long term, you'll see the benefits BEFORE YOU GET OLD!
-
good advice but who thinks there gonna get arthritis or such like when they're 20/30

Well that's up to you. All I can do is give you the benefit of my experience. You either take it or you don't.

I moved from a CLX-22 to an X3 Extreme-22. The difference is massive... No more aches & pains, pole is much. much easier to control & is more rigid. It does require more maintenance however - I wash through the sections every week and always clean the dirt off the pole hose when returning it to the van. A good investment IMO.
I also have a CLX-10 which I use for bungalows (probably about 30% to 40% of my round). This saves some of the wear & tear on the Extreme.

ive been advising wfp window cleaners for years to invest in the xtreme range of poles.most dont listen though they just see the extra cost. ::)roll
by the way ive never had tennis/golfers elbow etc.
