Title: Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my Sebo BS36 Vac?

Put a new bag in the Sebo this morning, turned it on and it sounded as it should for about 5 seconds then the suction pitch suddenly went up an octave and the brush underneath is not spinning.

If I pull out the stairs attachment it returns to normal?

Belt snapped? Easy fix?

Never had an issue before.

Any help much appreciated.

What are the lights on the brush head telling you? My BS36 is 20 years old and I've only recently had to change the brush belt for the first time.
