Title: Roof cleaning Aesbestos slate
Post by: tom20001 on February 22, 2017, 02:15:46 pm
Lads ive been asked about cleaning the roof on a house which is covered in moss except the slate is the old aesbestos type.

Is it safe to clean or what way should it be approached?

If it is definitely 'asbestos' and not 'fibre cement roof tiles' we wouldn't touch it.

Brushing it for soft washing you will end up with asbestos fibres amongst the moss etc you should declare it when you dispose of the waste.
Same will happen it you pressure wash it.
If it is Fibre cement you can wash it or scrap but it never looks very good  ;) looks really patchy

My advice would be to stay well clear as well as old guttering like that too.
