Afternoon all,
I'm pretty new to all of this, and just starting off.
What size pole would you recommend for day to day use on bungalows and your standard two storey house?
Also I'm looking at the Gardiner range, would you recommend CLX or SLX?
Appreciate any help..

Iv got a Clx , although it has done me proud , if I had the funds from the beginning I would've got an slx . Long term your joints will thank you for it if you get an slx

SLX 18 if thats all your doing. SLX 22 is a better used size.
I use a slx18 and a 25 with an extension on. Slx 18 is like a feather

as has been said, an 18ft would suffice, on the fronts.....however, on the backs it could be a different kettle of fish, with deep conservatories and flat roofs to contend with.
you may find you can make do with an 18ft at the front, and then have to go longer at the back because of the reach over connys etc. i often had to stick an extension or 2 for said obstacles
personally id go for a 25ft slx

The way I'm seeing it - if you want to buy right and buy once, buy a 25 ft slx and be done with it.
Otherwise, whats going to happen when you get new leads that are just out of reach ? you've either got to buy an extension or a new and lighter pole or turn the work down. Its inevitable that situation is going to happen sooner or later.
Don't get me wrong, absolutely nothing wrong with a clx ( i started with a clx 27 and still have it in the shed as a spare - not that I have ever needed it in over 6 + years ). Gardiners wouldn't sell them if they were a load of junk. If an 18 ft is all you are ever going to need then I still think a clx is enough but if you want to future proof equipment that you are investing in now then from my own experience I'd say go the full hog if you can afford to and buy an slx 25. In use the weight difference and closed length compared to an 18 is negligible anyway.

I would go 25' as well. You'll just feel more comfortable that you can reach stuff.

Agree with recommendations. I went wfp just less than 2 yrs ago. I purchased 2 poles, 1 hybrid (mix of carbon n fibreglass) and 1 carbon. Not really used the hybrid much and the carbon became the every day pole. Im just shy of 6ft and my pole i think is between 20 n 25ft (cant remember) but my height n pole i could clean all windows on a normal house, reach over conny roofs and extensions ok. But there were ones i had to use a box or A frame ladders as extra height was needed.
Begining of this month ive now got the slx25 which easily covers all my needed range. Its a firm but light pole, more so if you pick a light brush, which does make all the difference to a light pole.
If you can afford it, dont waste money on fibre glass and best you can always go carbon, not much flex in pole, it will go where you want it to and you will be thankful you spent that little bit extra.

Defentatly a slx over the clx it will be the better choice in the long run. A 22ft would do you for everyday domestics if you have to be tight with your funds having said that i agree a 25ft would be the better option and for not much more then the 22ft.
I use a 22ft for 99% of the day to day stuff (mainly because of the shorter collapsed length) and if i need more i have an extreme to cover this, but if your just starting out i wouldn't worry about the extremes yet, they are the best pole to get in my opinion (so if money is not an option then get one of these) but i would build your round up first and make sure your gonna like window cleaning.
A 25ft will cover all your needs and will be the most cost effective option for starting up as it will last longer then a clx too.

25ft as your main day to day pole and a 47footer for higher jobs.thatll cover you for most work including 4 and maybe 5 storey work,solar panels on 2 storey houses,skylight windows etc.
then if you get any other higher work you only need a extra section or two to take your pole height to 60ft.

I'm buying the SLX 25 at some point today....perfect for the 3 stories you will pick up.

It will depend on your budget, don't be too concerned if it only stretch's to a CLX as there's very little difference
when compared to a SLX at 22ft and under especially the newer model with the higher carbon mix.
18 to 22ft for everyday work with the aim to get a second longer pole in the future for higher work would be my advice.

If it's only bungalows and standard houses your cleaning, SLX18 would cover this and will be a lot lighter and easier on the body than using the SLX25 all day. If and when you start picking up new jobs that may require a bigger pole just go out and buy a bigger pole and use it as and when required. For me it's all about making your working day as easy as possible, whilst reducing the risk of RSI.

I've ordered an extream 35 is that to big for everyday use? This was going to be my everyday pole! Jamie

Yep.its too long to use for everyday use mate.u can take 2 sections off to make it a 25 footer but you won't have an insulated Base section or a rubber end stop unless u order them separately

It depends on what your days work consists of, if the majority of your work can be reached with a 22ft pole then you're
carrying an extra 13ft of pole around all day for no reason.

You will get more work that will include conservatory reach etc. The 25 SLX is what you need.
