Ive got a good steady flow of GoCardless customers now, but a lot less than I would like! When I tell some people about it they look at me like im crazy lol.
Has anyone found a good way to sell this to customers? I see some people say new customers have to go on GC, but what about the older generation without email addresses etc?
Oh the dream of having everyone setup on GC...

To be honest i just stick em on go-cardless if they are forgetful or too busy to actually sit down for 5 mins and remember to make their payments. I actually say to them they have to go on to direct debit or they are being cancelled.
Only have around 30 on there. tend to add 3 or 4 a quarter. If they pay within the week or so its of no real benefit to go direct debit really.

i dont mind collecting near home , but travelling around 12 mile round trip and no one in , pishes you orf

Ive just sent this email to all our Paypal customers use it if you want -
DIRECT DEBIT SETUP
Here at MN Window Cleaning, we are constantly striving to make things easier for our customers. More increasingly, customers are unable to pay because they don’t have cash with them when we call also, often the payment is forgotten about because we have such busy lives.
With this in mind, I have recently introduced a new way to make payment following the cleaning of your windows. GoCardless is a new type of Direct Debit whereby the payment is only taken once we have cleaned your windows – and never before! When I return home, I will mark that your windows have been cleaned on the GoCardless website; once marked, they will then send you a message informing you that the payment will be taken from your account approximately 5 days later – that way you know exactly when the payment is due.
As usual, your payments are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee so you can have peace of mind as well as making your life simpler; once set up, you need never again bother about arranging online payment or running round searching for cash or chequebook.
Hopefully, you will see this as a safe, secure and time-saving way in which to make payments in future.
Just click on the “Authorise” button below and follow the steps and thats it !
From now on we can clean your windows as usual and payment is made automatically.
Don’t forget:
We won’t share your details with any third parties
This is not a monthly Direct Debit – payments are only taken once your window have been cleaned - approximately 5 days later
Safe, secure and easy to set up – for future peace of mind
If you have any further questions please do get in touch.
Thanks Marcus

For those that havent signed up after a week they get this-
Hi.
Last week you received an email from ourselves regarding a new direct debit payment scheme. The main reason we are changing is the fact that paypals fees are making quite an impact on our turnover...if a customer pays £10 through paypal we only recieve £9.46. Where as the other method we are only charged a fraction of that per transaction. Times that by 650 customers per month i could be saving some £200 pm. The new system will not take money out of your account until 5 days after you recieve notification. Are you willing to give it a try for say 2 months ? Im afraid if not than we will have to increase your price by £1
Thanks for your understanding

Well worded email MNWC thank you. I like it.

Two years took on go cardless as well
We NO longer accept cash, although there are a few 2 or 3 out of 600 that can only pay cash, so I just let it go as there old
Go cardless is enforsed on bad payers, as sometimes there well priced jobs which are a shame to loose, so no signing up we walk away, ironically it's become apparent they were bad payers because they were just too busy so they all welcomed Go cardless as making payment easier
As for pay pal, I got Nathan to set up it via the web site and they pay there own charges if they coose this method
All new customers now are Go cardless, I'm quite easy if they wish to pay online they must do so by end week
I will always state
Our preferred method is DD which is stated to all new customers, as they always ask how they can make payment it's easier to start as wish to go on
Sadly the more customers you have the have the longer you spend chasing debts
Fortunately my wife took over this role of running things a year or so ago
And cleaning planner made huge difference in time spent organising and chasing debt
