Mike - i notice you have moved into the pressure washing a fair bit and i am thinking of adding it to my carpet & upholstery cleaning.
Just mainly because i've been doing the same for the last 12 years and want to vary it up a bit and also to get to work outside more.
I'm looking at a Honda GX390 3000 psi machine, low rpm pump with max flow 21 litres - with FSC and lance etc
Question is as a long time carpet & upholstery cleaner, do you find you enjoy the pressure washing more, same or less? How do you go about the van and the kit - keeping the carpet kit/van clean and tidy whilst still getting the pressure washer stuff in. Do you tow the PW on a trailer or take stuff off the van and stick it on there?
-
Would that machine be a jet mac pressure washer ?
-
Thats one of the ones I've looked at - no good?
-
Without a doubt presure washing is better than carpet cleaning, you earn more money, you get a higher average job value & the job satisfaction is much higher.
In the beginning I had an extra long base Iveco which had tons of room, even though I had a truckmount, tanks & reels. I just put the presure washing kit in the back.
Now I use a trailer which carries all the kit plus ladders, water fed poles and scaffold.
Lots of carpet cleaners have tried to get into pressure washing but gave up before they got the hang of how to do it, they got a bit of mess on thier faces, and started crying :D
stick with it and it will lead to the land of milk & honey.

Sounds good.
I would prefer to be getting poope on my face outside - my dad was a farmer and I'm use to getting down and dirty. U ain't lived till you've eaten a bit of poope.
Did you start with driveways/block paving? What machine are you using?
-
I started with drives, patios, concrete.
In the beginning I bought a gx390 Honda machine with a 15lt 3000psi pump, a FSC ( which I sold as I never used it) I used a turbo lance for most of the cleaning, but then bought a 12 inch FSC which I found really good.
Now I use a self built 23hp machine with a 35lt 3000psi cat pump.

How do you price it up - per square metre or on a time to do basis?
So is a smaller FSC a better bet than the bigger?
-
I price by time, I did a job today which when I measured came out at £740 based on £3:50m/2 it only took the morning, I knew it would be quick and there was no chance they would go for the £740 price so I gave told them honestly based of the size it should be £740 but I know it was going to be a easy clean so did it for £400, when I download the photos I will post them.
I found the small FSC so much easier to use and just as quick as you can move it faster than A big one

Ok great, be good to see

I carry this one but rarely use, it's only good for jobs such as this that has light moss or dirt....

http://kiamproducts.co.uk/cleaning/pressure-washer/petrol/business-start-up-pack-pressure-washer-petrol-warrior-3000p-kv80-3-vt62-300s-and-accessories.html
worth it, or wasting money? I don't know the brand but it has a 12 month warranty and its local to me..
