i finally sorted my new van out today.new cox reel bolted in(the fittings for inlet and outlet came with it).door cards from grippa for BOAB,spare brushes and goosenecks on van doors, hose clips, etc
im very happy with it and now i have my perfect set up. :)
ive only worked 2 days this year from a van mount,4 weeks with a backpack and 10 days off sorting new van and scrapping old van, getting tank fitted etc.
only thing left to do is the sign writing which should be done in the next few weeks.
its been a costly start to the year and a bit of a ball ache but hopefully ill be set up for a few years now. ;D

Just my Two penneth worth... I would be tempted to leave the private reg until AFTER your price rises!
Other than that- enjoy!
-
ive noticed the back of the van gets warmer overnight with an oil filled radiator in the back than my old van.probably because the sides are plylined, the roof is lower and i have a full steel bulkhead in this new one. :)

ive lost the private reg off my old van mate as i couldnt be bothered taking it off before i scrapped it.
TBH things like private regs are just "fluff" that you dont need really esp on a leased work vehicle. :)

Why bother with sign writing if you have plenty of work?
-
i didn't sign write my van just to gain extra work. it was more for an overall professional image

I'm currently working out of a non sign written truck. As much as I like the truck, with a sign written vehicle customers at least know who's reversing onto their driveway.

Ime sure life will be easier now you have sorted the van must be a nightmare working with a back pack all day , got any pictures of the new set up ? I think it's good to see how others have there vans set out as we call all learn new ideals from one another to make the working day easier and quicker

ive had sign written vans for 7 or 8 years now dave.id hate not having it signed.it brings in work all year round.yes i have plenty of work for me but we all lose some here and there for whatever reason(moving, dying, cant afford it,etc).
i recently lost a £70 job to another window cleaning company purely because they do pressure washing, roof cleaning, gutters as well as window cleaning.i have picked up jobs they used to do as well over the last few years so it balances out.
its not just the extra work that a sign written van brings in but it looks more professional IMO and makes you stand out from the rest.keeping the van clean and tidy helps too even if its just my attitude to window cleaning.
i know loads of window cleaners who work from scruffy, dirty, unsigned vans and they seem happy enough but its not for me.(it was many years ago but i prefer to have a crisp, clean cut image portrayed to customers these days)

ill try and put a few pics up tomorrow mate.i tried the other day and they wouldnt upload(they said the photos were too big!) ::)roll

Mine is signwritten but I'm not sure I'd bother with it again as I'm overwhelmed with work, still get people walk up and ask if I'm a window cleaner ::)roll

haha yep thats happens too! ;D
the great thing is dave you can pick and choose what work to take on.we all need to keep taking work on as theres always work being lost.
-
Depends how you have your van sign written as to if they ask you if your a window cleaner. I have had my van sign written for nine years and all people ask me is can you do mine never once asked me if I'm a window cleaner

Got any pics Daz?
-
It's less likely to be robbed sign written as unless they know about your HD power reel and poles 😉 They know there is no "quick sale" power tools in the back

Well done Daz. Wanna see the pics too.
As for sign writing - I just have large magnetic signs about 1.2 metre x 500mm with:

the old and the new!
The new one really puts the old one to shame. Old one looks terrible next to that.

Hey Daz , im pretty much back to normal now thanks mate , it has been tough but it was a life lesson for me , i now dont run around like a fool , i do pretty much half days and dont really earn much less !
I too treated myself a while back as the pink peril was getting a bit long in the tooth ;D
Heres how i roll now , compact and a bit more clever i like to think ;)
-

cheers lal.yes im very happy with my overall set up now.cant wait to get back into the swing of it after lugging that backpack around and filling it up every 5 mins! ::)roll ;D
i think the L2 240 connects are the perfect van for a one man band.the payload is slightly higher than my old T230 lal(936kg).
not too big for getting on driveways/parking but large enough to handle the water weight and fit all my gear in.the roof is lower so getting ladders off will be easier (when i need to)and its slightly longer in length so poles fit in without having to cut into the bulkhead.
the parking sensors are handy and the heated drivers seat and heated windscreen/wing mirrors are pure luxury! ;D

glad your feeling better mate.all the best. :)

You are far too posh for me Daz , i can only dream of heated seats , the tank you have ....is that mounted the other way to the norm
If so how does it handle the slosh , its somthing im looking at doing .

yes its mounted longways richy.its a 500L upright in a PURE FREEDOM frame up against the bulkhead bolted to the eyelets with custom made angle iron so no drilling through floors(the van is leased).
the benefit for me having the tank fitted longways is the weight is distributed better IMO between axles and i can fit stuff down the sides.my bucket/spare cloths,detergents/chemicals,etc are right near the side loading door so very handy for grabbing a clean cloth etc quickly.also my gas bottle is there so easy to just open side door and change bottles.down the other side i keep my stuff that i dont use everyday(as i have to stretch/reach in to get them)like 5l pressure sprayer, tub of virosol, fold away trolley and toolbox.
there is a bit of sloshing around but only if you brake hard with half a tank full.sometimes theres slight "swaying" at traffic lights etc but not enough to concern me! ;D
-
Can't for the life of me work out why you put your tank length ways :o
You could have whipped the backpack and reel out at the weekend and got a drumkit in there and a lilo.

haha. ;D ;D
it suits me dave.ive got my golf for leisure purposes!its amazing how much room i have for my drums with the seats down.ideal. :)

now ;D
Very nice tidy set up ;)
The only thing that would cheese me off is packing away all that pole hose each time and getting it all tangled up and dangling in the way. you could do away with all that grief easily with a "tubeless" set up.
-
I think that Daz runs his hose outside the pole , but one of his goosenecks tells it different , maybe he changed again , we all know Daz ........i hate hot water...... no .....no ......in fact i cant imagine cleaning without it !!!!!

the orange pole hose is from my 47footer which only gets used a few times a month mate.i ve also got some hose clips now drilled into the side plylining to keep it off the van floor and out of the way.
my main 25ft pole(the blue pole hose)is a lot shorter and easy to manage on a day to day basis.

no inside mate. ;)
the heater is the L10 and it handles the heat and pressure fine.i used to have problems with my L5 and it used to go out in the slightest bit of wind.i work with a high flow so this bigger heater suits me better plus it generally doesnt go out when its windy.
-
Why bother with sign writing if you have plenty of work?
Also a deterrent to thieving scum after power tools
-
Im still on the L5, does what i need anyway , not majorly hot as i can only run it on the lowest setting otherwise it doesnt ignite for some reason , its fine if you up the temp whilst the water is flowing , but when you dead end it she wont relight again .
Probably good for me , as i aint cracked a window in over 5 years of use !
-
Well, how's the van going Dazmond?
-
its still going mate.its got nearly 300 miles on the clock now. :)
its pure luxury to drive compared to my old 12 year old van.the cab is better equipped for having my lunch too.it pulls really well even with a full tank.im very happy with it.ive still got to get the sign writing done though.ive contacted 2 companies but no reply as yet.these guys are always really busy! ::)roll
-
300 miles already . It's no longer a new van . It's now an old work horse .
