Title: Gloves for trad work
Post by: Glen on February 09, 2017, 05:32:04 pm
What are the best waterproof (breathable?) gloves to wear for trad work?

To be worn with heated glove liners.

I've recently been using Showa 282 from Gardiners, you can get them elsewhere. I mainly do pole work but also some trad. They are seriously good, very easy to get on and off, not too bulky, warm (and I suffer from cold hands), completely waterproof. Had mine about 2 months now and they are just starting to go around the thumbs. I will defo get another pair. Just my opinion.

Showa 306 , I've just ordered another 6 pairs of eBay £6.95 each including delivery . They last around 2 months , I bought some sealskinz gloves for £40 in December, they are already ripped to shreds  :'(

I'll try a pair. Here's 12 pairs for less than £12 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/showa-306-waterproof-thermal-gloves-12-pairs-/112296015851?hash=item1a255d37eb:g:4qEAAOSwleZYmhM6

never wore gloves in all of the 20 years of traditional window cleaning even in winter, i did try but found it difficult to detail properly. also i could feel how DRY/DAMP my scrim was......being at one with your scrim an all that ;D remember me hands sticking to ladders on frosty mornings, dont miss that.

converted to WFP 2yrs and i still find it difficult  wearing gloves , tried sealskin gloves with the little rubber bobble bits on the palmsbut still find im gripping the pole to hard to stop pole spinning in hands giving me wrist ache, and keep ripping the thumb on the clamps.

I hated wearing gloves when did trad work. Im quite warm blooded and it wouldnt be overly long when i would be taking them back off again.
But when i tried gloves i found the seal skin type gloves from soapnational.co.uk were good

I am trad and have never got on with wearing gloves, no matter how cold it is. As already mentioned, it interferes with detailing and the 'feel' of the cloth on the fingers.

I always find that after the first hour or so it's not a problem anyway.

Well I'm sure that has helped him find some gloves 🤦‍♂️
