Title: For those with a water meter!
Post by: Klean07 on February 02, 2017, 02:20:56 pm
I'm on a water meter but noticed on the breakdown of my bill there is a section for "surface water" this is the water that ends up in their sewers and drains apparently and comes from our roofs and drains!
My question is ; Does this include the waste water that goes down my drain when filling my tank? If so it may be a cheaper idea to put waste water in gutter in street instead!
Thoughts please?

I dont use a meter. Hiwever i believe this is a set charge they put on the bill, regardless of hiw much water goes down the drain. However for those that use a water butt connected to downpipe, you can write to the waterboard for a refund. My friend even stuck on the letter a £25 admin fee, which he actually got a cheque back for.  Pays to be confident

Every property gets a charge for surface water, which effectively is rain water which comes from your gutters and into the sewer system.
However if you have a soakaway you can contact your water company to forfeit the charge and in some cases claim a rebate if you've been charged previously.

Don't send it down the drain! You can then get a rebate on your sewerage.

Don't send it down the drain put a hose somewhere on your garden in about 18 months you'll have a nice sinkhole waiting to happen.

Would it be safe to drink if you fill your kettle up and use some for brews? Or boiling your eggs/veg etc?

I thinks it's more contaminated after being filtered and RO"d so I've been told.
