Don't forget, buy the hot water at the same time.
Good choice...well as I have the same I can't say owt else.
Mr B
-
SO what happens at the end of the hire period? is the van given back and assuming its not damaged thats that?
Or do you have option to buy or sell it etc?
-
About time you spent some of that money Daz 👍

yep or sell the van.ill probably pay the balloon payment myself and pay a peppercorn rental for a few years thereafter(around £250 a year)

Same van mate, L2.
That's a 500 Grippa tank system with cox reel and roller floor system. Roller guide was a bit of a faff as the exhaust was in the way.
Only thing is the tank should really be pushed up to the front more buts its only a one man system anyway.
works really well.
Enjoy it mate :)

its a business finance lease not contract hire so you have an option to pay the final balloon payment yourself then continue to rent the van for a peppercorn rental.or sell the van to a third party and pay the balloon payment off.it doesnt matter what state the vans in(although obviously it will affect the price you ll get for it if its shabby)

cheers damien :)
did grippa fit your tank or did you fit it yourself?im looking at getting the basic 500L tank,1 pump and controller and cox reel.probably could do with some storage units as well. ;D
not gonna bother with the split charge relay or hot water.just a basic system.its expensive enough!!
-
What will you do with your old system Daz?? I reckon after a few weeks working in a brand new van/system you'll want to work full time again ;D
-
I am capable of fitting it myself but allowed them to fit it.
Yes that's the system we had fitted in it except we had split charge relay fitted. We had storage fitted as well but they took the photos before it was fitted lol
On this van we had the floor done with speed liner and yeah i can see why its expensive. First van i have had done with it, very impressed with quality.
If you do go down the grippa route let me know will try and meet you, only 10 miles from them :D
Van handles 500L fine and drives just like a car.
-
I suppose the next question is - how big is the balloon? Are we talking Zeppelin?
-
Re the expense thing. Everyone who has gone out with me in any of our vans with grippa systems have all said the same. Is there any water in the tank!? They drive, handle and perform like a factory fit system. Joy to use and the vans are brill.
Looking at getting an m sport :-X :-X but they wont build a 340 version ::)roll ::)roll ::)roll
-
would a 650lt tank fit in those connects with room for hose reels, i know its very borderline weight wise but for the number of times i would fill it to that would be minimal and i reckon would still be under.
Also how wide are the actual 2 passenger seats do you reckon you could safely have 2 booster seats on each one for 2 young kids?
nice looking vans those connects..its 1 of them or the custom prefer the connect for more ease of access for parking etc.

Nice one dazmond, 3 weeks to go, i bet you can't wait and are counting the days. :)
-
That's awesome daz , they look really smart. nearly 1000kg payload too? all the mod cons!
One day il have one like that too , I don't really like committing to long term contracts though which is what puts me off
-
Just think what with the payment for the van and maybe the grippa system on top you are now going to have to work a day or two a month for 5 years for nothing. I hope you find it all worth it as the novelty of owning a new motor will soon wear off methinks.

Indeed ;D

5 and a half grand
-
Really smart those new connects ......
Does it have three front seats? Also does the monthly lease payment cover maintenance?

That was the only reason i decided against when my van broke down a couple of weeks ago. I got accepted by vanarama and was close to pulling the trigger but in the back of my mind i knew that after a few months and the novelty had worn off all i really had was a means of transportation just like an older van and was stuck with over 200 quid coming out every month for a very long time.
That said im sure Daz earns a lot more than me so it would make sense depending on individual circumstances.

yes he earn £200 a day minimum, part time, with a trolley.....
-
Pleased for you getting a new van......however I'm sure there would have been a better way of financing it, I obv don't know all your circumstances but I would think that if you have been declaring what you say you earn, you could have got a personal bank loan for about 3% APR. The savings you made on interest payments would have more than paid for your system. You will have a cooling off period? If I were you I would look into this option. Regardless I am sure you will enjoy your new van.

too right mate. plus the price rises will cover the van rental and VAT so i wont notice it.also no MOTs for 3 years! :D
i reckon ill love it and the novelty will PROBABLY NOT WEAR OFF for me.ive been dreaming of a brand new van with heated seats, air con, full steel bulkhead etc for a very long time.
ill get it sign written and put my private plate on it too. :)
couple that with a professional fitted system in the back and reckon itll make my working days a lot more enjoyable.ill look after the van too. :)
-
Does the plus vat mean it has to be added to payments if so it seems a lot of money for a small van if you pay the end payment . I have just purchased a 65 plate long wheel Base vivaro for ten grand plus vat
-

i wouldnt have a vivaro if i got offered one for free mate.yes the vat is added on every payment and the balloon payment at the end(i could always opt to sell the van instead to pay off the balloon payment)
-
Many moons ago I use to sell new motors. Trust me the novelty will soon wear off ;D
-
I own a vivaro now 2006 long wheel Base had it 9 years never had a major problem with it which is the reason I bought a vivaro again .I fancied the custom but I saw on here a few months ago that even the new ford's still had rust issue which is the reason I didn't bother .at end of day ford's have issues so do vauxhall s it's just the look of the draw as to weather you end up with a good one or a bad one
-

Yes you will. Your thinking is simply a way to try to deal with the additional expense you're now cornered into taking on. If you hadn't had to cover the additional expense of purchasing a new vehicle you would still have imposed those price rises and therefore be that much better off. Now you will be denied a price rise even when you've increased your prices. The way to not notice it is to increase the price rises by more than you would've originally put them up by. So instead of a £2.00 rise make it a £4.00 rise.

ok so maybe i will notice an increase in my outgoings but i wont be going heavy on the price rises.most will be £1 or £2 and a few £5 here and there.i will price higher for new work though(esp add on jobs).the odd job is getting dumped too(spring clean! ;D)
-
I wouldn't bother buying a brand new van for window cleaning my van gets loads of abuse ;D...4 or 5 grand tops sod paying 200 a month!
-
I sold my half decent car to fund my first new van and decided to have a nice van as most of my working life is spent IN the van.
Frozen windscreens and mirrors is just a click of a button and summer time is just a click of a button for air con. Nothing like eating your lunch in a nice cool van.
As for the expense. I wish mine was only £200 a month. But I had no balllon payment.
My complete attitude changed the day I got that new van for the better. It was evidence of how well I have done and now 2 and half years on I am blessed with the business I have.
DAZ I think the novelty will wear off mate in about 9-10 years time. Enjoy the van. Keep up with the positive posts as they do me and others a world of good.
Happy motoring buddy.
-
Were there any problems getting the credit Daz? I know you said your credit rating is not that good..

pro system in the back.no messing about with DIY ones for a change.ill be set up for the next 10 years at least, probably 15 years(ill be 60 then).the van will get looked after.
-

no.my credit rating is actually pretty good and itll be really good when this is paid off.i had a CCJ once but it was over 10 years ago now.doesnt time fly? ;D

i like a bit of luxury even at work and we spend a big chunk of time working. ;D
-
Daz just my opinion - get the split relay charger - don't mess about just one less thing to do at night - for the little extra its not even worth thinking about ;)
got my new van this time last year - best decision for me and no £500 mot bill this year ;D
-
I reckon you'll love the new van. Gotta put some pics up for us when you get it all fitted.
-
New Vans are just like everything else in life, you really want it but don't really need it.
Thanks to consumerism our minds our wired to want the latest and greatest, yet we never really feel truly satisfied.
The novelty will wear off in a year or 2 and that ugly monster consumerism will force you to start thinking about the next best thing, tying you down into an ever lasting cycle of payments and interest.
Don't let desire get the better of you daz, or before long you'll find your working for the banks and not yourself.
One thing that has always struck me is how humble you've seemed ( ok with the odd bit of boasting on 5* holidays ) and how you've always been so proud of your setup. Even though you were driving an older van and didn't have the greatest professionally fitted wfp system on earth, you are always happy.
Now your burdened with long term payments for a van that's not even yours, that will lose a large chunk of its value within the first year, when in truth you could of been a bit more clever and got a good van without all the aggro.
2 years ago I bought a 13 plate dispatch L2 model, around 20,000 on the clock for 7k cash, no vat. I searched the whole country and drove 200 miles to pick it up. It was practically a new van still, and its mine outright with no payments or interest. Absolute bargain.
I didn't even consider spending a fortune on a super duper, gold plated parts per trillion, diamond encrusted system. Why would I, it does the same job as every other system that you can put together for a couple of hundred.
In all honesty dazmond, chuck your old 500 litre system into your new van and spend your money on life, not on a new system.
Over the next 5 years put away £30 a week and buy your next van outright for 7k.
-
yes 5 year lease with vanarama.£179 a month plus VAT :)
500L grippatank with cox reel will be on order soon too 8)
is there a balloon payment at the end
yep or sell the van.ill probably pay the balloon payment myself and pay a peppercorn rental for a few years thereafter(around £250 a year)
I'm glad they explained and you understood how the peppercorn rental works. They will try to pressurize you into not going that far.

sod off chris!! ;D ;D
im not putting a parts per billion system in the back!just a decent crash tested tank thatll be better than my old one. ;D
-
If you think you can afford it go for it...I would but think I would go for ownership rental at the end of 5 years.
How much are they new?

Why is it better then your last system? Because it's crash tested? How many window cleaners have you actually heard about that have died because their system squished them to death?
Was your last system not up to the job in any way?
Will a new grippa system make you clean windows better then you do now?
Just saying..
It's all cosmetic.
It's your life though daz, do what makes you happy!

Agree with that. It can be daunting buying new, especially if you've never owned a new vehicle. Worth it though I reckon, especially with what it can earn. If you're in a van every day and you can afford it, get a nice one.
-
At first every little ding and scratch it gets you will go mental being new and all...Paranoid where you park too ;D
-
about time you got a decent van Daz, but its a rental which you wont even own!
why didnt you use all this money you "earn" to buy yourself a van instead of renting one?
-

Yep. the school holidays will be interesting.

I ain't knocking you or nowt Daz fair play to you ;)
Leasing and brand new vans just ain't for me i like to own things outright..I have got a pro system in the back of the old 59 reg primastar though ;D
-
Anything new and shinny also seems to attract scumbags ;D
-
Nice one Daz. I assume you're getting rid of the Golf?
-
nothing wrong with treating yourself dazmond. 50 quid a week to drive a spanking new van. Its a no brainer. If its you driving it all the time and not staff then you will definty make the most of it. How long is the warranty for. Have they thrown a service in down the line and how long till you can service it.
-
As has already been suggested you may be better off taking out a personal loan to buy the van with interest rates so low. Also if you look around you may get a pre-registered van a lot cheaper saving even more money.
I went wfp 11 years ago, got a personal loan for 10k (£200/month over 5 years), bought a pre-registered 2.0hdi dispatch for £11500 and spent £2500 having a professional system fitted. I used savings to cover the rest and owned the van outright after 5 years.
I still have the van and plan to keep it a few more years, it has never let me down so far.
I occasionally look at prices for pre-registered vans and always find there are good deals out there.
-
Nice one Daz. I assume you're getting rid of the Golf?
nope!im keeping the golf mate!i need time away from work too. :)
-
Enjoy daz
I love mine, much happier with it. than the T5 suits my needs perfectly right now
I stuck my grippa system on interest free credit card I've got the cash but decided to keep cash and pay over 29 months I often do that with larger purchases
I think about putting my wydale tanks in and retro fitting it and I built and installed systems for about 10 years. but I choose grippa tanks I know who designed them and I really like them, there fairly good after care, they do there best when problems arise
I do always get new van every 3 years this one I may keep a little longer but I may upgrade the spare van to one
I always purchase mine out right, to be honest my fuel bill on the T5 was about £90 a week minimum 3 tanks a month this is £52 every other week so I'm saving almost £200 a month On fuel alone, so van has paid for itself
One bit advice if you do go with grippa and i don't often give direct advice, very careful with that
Get the split relay that works with auto stop start. Put in two batteries you'll not regret it
It's an awesome bit kit
I never charge batteries I run two electric reels and I have there 12 volt electric frost heater in new cabinet and I never have to charge the batteries
Hope it all comes to plan for you
Tony
-
my vivaro is on finance 200 a month got 3 years left and its payed its nice to have nice van but smurf is rite every ding or scrach drives me mad but ide never but brand new but allmost new is best i think save a load of cash that way ;D
-
ive been dreaming of a brand new van with heated seats, air con, full steel bulkhead etc for a very long time.
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
-
Anything new and shinny also seems to attract scumbags ;D
Daz wants to attract women!!!
-
I brought my 11 plate Dispatch 2.00 2 years ago for £6,000 including vat. It had 128,000 miles on clock but had fsh and looked like new it still does! I borrowed £4,000 from bank and sold my other van to finance it! Its almost paid for now after two years meaning the van will soon be mine.
Just my opinion on subject Daz! Good luck anyway whichever you decide!
