Title: Rinsing at height ?
Post by: Fieldsy on January 21, 2017, 02:52:14 pm
For those who do high level work 50 - 60 feet, do you rinse on or off the glass. Excuse my naivety if the only option is actually to rinse on glass, but we have a new contract at high level and would like to know the method used. Probably looking to purchase two x Superlight II  57     ....or other options equivalent to this pole working at those heights.

Thanks  :)

On , or some twist to left or right to rinse I don't prefer this option

My preference , Fan jets up high brush always on glass, I guess that why I keep brush on glass at low level, But I prefer not to any more as it just creates problems long term if you are always working at height

Generally anything over  45/50 we rinse on clean the window as normal then sideways movements across the window working downwards to rinse haven't had any complaints so far 😂😂😂

Thanks fellas, much appreciated. I guessed that would be the norm, but wanted to know from those who actually work at these heights.  As for the poles, would they be your weapon of choice....or ??

Thanks again  :)

Extreme 47

Anything above modular,
I've  never used ultimate high reach pole in Gardners site weight seems good videos interesting

I've had modular up to heights it's not allowed at to see what it's like

I'd ask Alex's advice as poles have come along way since modular  was the main weapon of choice or only choice

Thanks Tony, appreciate your input. Excuse my rather basic diagram, but obviously want to know we are buying the correct pole for the job before splashing out on a couple. Does my pic make sense ?

Wittled it down to the following, assuming we want to pay around the 1000 mark for a pole

xtreme 57   HM Carbon Fibre     52feet   2.4kg
SL46           M Modular Carbon  51feet      2.15kg

We have extream and ultimate poles for this height with extensions when needed for 6 to 8  floors , personally I prefer the ultimate at this height it's heavy but doesn't flex as much as the extream .

I know you don't want to work with a heavy pole but at heights like that if the pole is heavier it is less affected by wind  I have noticed the ultimate is a far more stable pole in a breeze than the extream , ime not saying you should be working at height in bad weather though , it's obviously dearer to but I feel it's worth the extra expense at this height

Thank you, appreciate your input, yh it is a tough call. This is our first high level job, so all very new, so it is awkward knowing which way to go. The expense of two poles (ultimate) at nearly 1500 each plus vat is a bit of a bitter pill to swallow. probs looking for the happy medium, but I doubt there is one....lol

Thanks  :)

high flow is a must if rinsing on the glass we use our ultimate poles three to four times aweek  , we find the ultimate poles easier on you at the end of the day as you don't  get so much burn out trying to stop it flexing like you get with the extreme poles we had befoure them

Do you have any one neer you that has one you can try before you buy ? Or any distributors in your area that stock them that would let you see it and try putting it up to see which you prefer , when spending that amount of money Ime sure they would be happy to let you try them to decide what's best for you ,Alex let me do that at his depo

Grippa are in Cambridge they may not have them in stock but I'm sure they could get them in for you to try.

I have the extreme 47 which cleans up to 50ft I think it's a good pole not tried the ultimate but have only heard good things.once you start to get up to 60ft stiffness and the amount of flex becomes really important this when the ultimate will be better.

If your ever near Braintree  i have a extreme 47 you can look at, personally i agree anything over the length that an extreme 47 can reach i would be going for the ultimate even at around 44ft the extreme has a big bend and flex in it.

Extreme 47 with the triple extention (13ft ) at 60-65 ft is perfect.
Add 2 single 5ft ones and it starts to dip but defo workable,
Always rinse with brush on the glass.

Thanks Matt, this is another option, much appreciated. A big thanks to all the advice. At the moment it is a tough decision as its our only high reach job...........once a month, so an outlay of £3000+ vat ( ultimate poles) has got to be warranted  :( , but I do take in all what you are saying regarding the ultimate and ease of use, but if its only once a month, maybe we pay the cheaper option and suffer the difficulty for one day of the month ??

if only once a month then go extreme all the way , yes there still dear, yes theres cheaper ones out there but are they as good as the extreme in the long run ?

we have a ex 47 that's around five years old , been used three times aweekish  its never been looked after and its never been apart and cleaned yet it still out there earning , one question you also need to think about is how long it will last

sometimes you need to spend a little more upfront to save more if it lasts longer

Thanks Susan,

I think we will go with the extremes, as like you say, its only once a month...............................and how long will it last ?. We have the contract for three years. If this is THE only high level we have over this period then I'm sure they will be fine, and if any others come along then we know we have the ability to clean them..............and if at any point we are inundated with high reach work...then we can purchase accordingly.

Thanks again  :) ;)
