Turned up to do what I thought would be a straight forward gutter check & clear for a landlord.
Looked at the front of the small 2 bed terrace and thought easy money. Then knocked on the door to have a look at the back.
OMG was a good job I was wearing me wellies as the back was flooded. Nearly slipped on my arse more than once as was a combination of cooking fat, washing machine, dishwasher waste etc. It did not smell that nice either as had been like that for months apparently.
There was no way to get to the back guttering safely either without first sorting that mess out and unblock the drains. After paddling in that crap I could not really go back through the house so the tenant gave me the key to get access through the garage.
Unlocked the small door to get to inside the garage and took one look and thought ffs. Spent the next half hour moving stuff about to make a pathway to the garage door to open it. Not a great start I thought.
Anyhow to cut a long story short best to never assume a job is going to be easy as they can be the ones that bites you in the bum ::)roll

I also expect if you do a lot of commercial drain clearing then they expect your firm to be vat registered.
Not only that I suppose you can claim back the vat on everything too. Very handy I would have thought for the likes of consumables and large ticket items as drain clearing kit is not cheap that's for sure.
