Ordered one of these yesterday l hope it works has I constantly wipe the pole hose especially with all this damp weather .

Got mine today and fitted it to a spare pole. It will get used tomorrow, seems OK though.
Problems are:
1, 0.16p is far too expensive for 1 rubber washer.
2. I don't normally use Gardiner pole hose so the hole is too wee.
Both these issues will be solved by sourcing my own washers, which I'll do if it proves itself to be of any use.

i reckon there will be issues with these in the summer months when collapsing the pole when the pole hose is even more soft and flexible. Its a good idea but i reckon it will be more of a pain then its worth.

We've had them on both poles since xmas and they seem to work fine. We use the blue PU hose from exceed with the univalve.
Haven't changed the washer yet.
Only problem I can see is with the univalve fitted you have to remove & replace the small O clamp each time you change the washer which is a pain.

I can't explain this but I seldom get problems with grit inside either of my poles. I use an Xtreme 22 as my everyday pole now, and an SLX 25 for a couple of jobs where I need that extra bit of length. (yes that extra 3ft does make a difference on those jobs) I carry a small cloth and if the hose looks exceptionally bad, then I wipe a couple of meters of the hose where it enters the pole.
The only time grit has been an issue for me recently was when a customer's neighbor had some work done and they left a good bit of sand laying around on the floor and every time I pulled my hose down that alleyway I got wet sand up the pole and had to hose it out. Other than that though both my two poles stay pretty clean inside.
I don't know why, but I can't say the same for the two CLX poles I had a few years back. They were always getting jammed up, especially on wet days.

First day today had to put some PTFE around has it pulled inside pole , but after that it worked fine defiantly saved lots of work wiping hose before raising pole.

Don't replace the "O" clip, just cut your pole hose just past the first section and put in a straight connector. To replace, remove the first section, disconnect the straight connector and replace the washer. Reassemble and happy days!

i don't want to pour cold water on this but why not reduce the overall price of the poles so it means we can buy a new pole, instead of getting our moneys worth out of a pole by using them until they are no longer usable. what is the life span of a pole when looked after as recommended and the span when one of these things are fitted .

Not really sure what you are getting at. My poles are all 'Trigger's brooms' in that when something fails on it it gets replaced. The grit stop should reduce the frequency of sections needing replaced.

Thanks Phil but I don't understand quite what you mean.
I have a JG straight connector on the gooseneck side of the univalve so I can change to goosenecks.
Are you saying to put one the other side of the univalve? I just assumed it would pull out. I'll give it a try.

Don't know yet. Am waiting for Phil J to reply or I will try it Monday or over the weekend if I get chance.

2nd day Friday , For me the grit stop really saves a lot of repetition wiping pole hose which helps with fatigue and productivity so for how much it costs money well spent.

Can't get my head around this.
Are you lot using univalve and gritstop?
NOT exceed tubeless with gritstop.
Can't see how tubeless works with gritstop.
Tubeless the pole hose is on reel with female connection.
Pole has male end sticking out bottom of pole when female/male connection joined there's no way that would flow through washers hole.
Am I being stupid.
If you wanted tubeless with gritstop then maybe washer kit would fit on reel behind female connection.
Then when tube off reel goes up pole gritstop would stop outside pole end cap but tube would fed in pole o.k.
HAVE I LOST THE PLOT ;D

There's a female window cleaner round our way that uses one.
She's very nice looking and works out of a pink sports car.
We call her Penelope Gritstop.

Yes. Have got a straight JG 8mm connector on each side of univalve now. You're right, it doesn't pull out. Works great. Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been away for the weekend! Glad you got it sorted, seems the easiest and most cost effective way to be able to replace the washers.

Another issue arose yesterday that I hadn't considered; the gritstop is no use if you use extensions.
