Hello

they have a few distance learning courses listed for the theory side..

anyone know if they are any good before i pay out for them>

Hi Mark,

The IICRC are certainly a recognised body in the industry, they don't have too many certified in the UK; roughly around 60 I believe as they're based in the US.

As to whether they're any good for what you need, I couldn't comment, there may be members here who have taken up their services.

Hi Mark,
I can personally recommend the IICRC Carpet, Upholstery and Commercial carpet maintenance training courses hosted by Alltec at Fowlmere near Royston Hertfordshire; http://alltec.co.uk/.

The courses are taught by Paul Pierce, who is an excellent tutor and font of knowledge in all things to do with the carpet, upholstery and rug cleaning industry.

The course is mainly theory based, but Paul does go into great detail with his explanations and also does give practical demonstrations where needed.

I would recommend you look at the Alltec website Mark and click through to their training information links for a full description of all the courses Alltec run.  All the staff at Alltec are extremely friendly and helpful, I can highly recommend training there.  Hope this helps you a little.

agree with above post you wont get any one care as much as alltec and of course mr pearce
in training to become a iicrc member

Hello

Thanks for the replies..

I actually bought the online course which, although dated, is quite intense.. Its distance learning which allows me to learn at my own pace, and tbh I have spent about 8 hours on and am about half way through.

Covered so far
Fabric types, testing, construction, issues and dying. Did an online test and got 74% (marked out of about 80 questions).  I feel quite knowledgeable about it so far IICRC basic training. 

It probably isn't for everyone, I'm working as a teacher atm and used to classroom environments (not a teacher for long mind). the job prevents me from going on training mid week, and weekend courses don't happen...

Worth a look in anyway.

Yes you have to send off the certificate to IICRC to have it recognised by them too..  (alongside an admin charge)..
