You are Mad if you go back there.

I would never ever go back to that house
-
I am usually very tolerant towards 'not todays', but if anyone spoke to me in the manner that appears here, I would say something along the lines of 'No problem, I am sorry to lose you', then walk away.

She keeps asking me to clean her windows again all I say to her is are you having a laugh
-
Any of that nonsense dump.and don't go.back. don't need that kind of bs
-
i would have just smiled and said yes im cleaning in this temp cuppa would be nice ;D

Not that impressed with your reply, you should never let anybody think they're your bread and butter
especially when they're not.
-
I saw someone working traditional Friday with snow on the ground and next to knowhere to put the ladder,I must admit I thought it looked like he was desperate which in all honesty is really who would work in that unless they really have to. Maybe he should do enough when the weathers good so he doesn't have to work in such conditions.

I'm not sure he was trying to impress you.

I have to smile when a tradder is judged to be desperate for working in bad weather. What does that make a poler who does the same?

Had one a few months ago. Woman saw me cleaning next door and asked for a quote, telling me her window cleaner was unreliable and turned up when he felt like it. I told her we were reliable and would turn up every month ( which she was happy with). First coupla months fine, 3rd month " can you leave them today ", no problem, continued to do them on the fourth month. 5th month " littl'uns in bed asleep, can u leave them "...................I suffer it and go ok. 6 month daughter answers door, " mum window cleaner is here " ( " not today" from upstairs ). I says " well they weren't cleaned last month". Daughter : " mum they weren't cleaned last month" ( "yh I know" from upstairs). Me to daughter " tell ya mum I ain't coming back, bye "............and walked off. I simply can't be arsed with time wasters. When I explain to customers that most women or men wouldn't expect their partners employers to employ them for 6 months of a year, the other 6 without pay, they do seem to understand.............but my patience is not my biggest virtue. ;)

Only turned away three times, but I'd have dropped after the first if on the day. If it was a text ahead after the second cancellation probably.
-
I went back and cleaned 3 months out of 4 and they cancelled on the last two (5 &6 ). Not desperate at all !!. Just give the customers a fair crack of the whip if its a genuine cancellation, but not to be told from upstairs to leave it...........just plain rude !!

Working in the snow when it's been heavy and you can hardly get around is desperate imo, like I say when that time of the year comes you should have banked enough not to pannick. They might not say anything but you can be sure they are thinking ahh bless him he must need the money, that guy i saw was working with snow all over the place on a ladder,of course you will look like your desperate working in that.
-
What about other professions that work in the snow/rain postmen road maintenance workers are they desperate too?
-
They have to work if they are told too, like I say you should be earning enough when it's snowing to catch up on box sets etc lol
-
I'm a window cleaner and an employer. We clean in all weathers, just try and find jobs best suited for certain conditions. Does that make me or my employees desperate? I certainly don't feel desperate and actually enjoyed cleaning in the snow on Friday and gave me a good feeling at 5pm that we'd done a good full weeks work.
-
There's nothing desperate about working in bad weather not everyone makes a fortune at this job . Some people just can't be bothered to try and work in bad weather.i try my best to work in bad weather doesn't make me desperate I'm just trying to keep on top of my work not easy playing catch up when weathers been bad

I think you've made the point very well. I personally don't work in high winds or heavy rain, but I respect anyone who chooses to.

I'll look forward to hearing from the ones who right off there van on snow covered roads or side roads,I couldn't get to 90% of my jobs if I was stupid enough to go out in it.
-
I dont like working in bad weather but when you've had a week or more of at christmas and come back to rain and wind which puts you really behind. Bills are due and you can't get any work done it becomes quite stressfull and yes you do get a bit desperate. Today looks awfull here but I've 3 weeks of work or more stacked up in front of me including a load of first cleans
-
Skip the frames/frosted give the glass a quick lick and you will soon catch up, they wont notice at this time of the year.
Joke is the same people who claim to clean in all weather conditions will be rolling their eyes at the above statement.
-
I don't clean any wondows at all in bad weather. I just put the slip through the door and drive off.
-
So what some are saying is that they don't have a few weeks money to tide them over to get them through the snow then,I think you should look for another job then you'll get paid if you can't go in.

I work in all weathers, never normally get turned away and most people who are home tend to make me a cuppa...... although today I've just been turned away from a £60 job because of it being "a grotty day, can you roll job over to a nicer day?"
Mmmmm must be a trend starting in2017

...or because they consider it a waste of their £60 for the windows to look just as dirty come the same time tomorrow. Would you not feel the same if you were them ?
-
You can't just take time of and use your savings because what happens if you spend your savings then something seriously goes wrong with van or you desperately need equipment doesn't make sense
-
Doing domestic houses in proper full on snow is crazy imo,my point is you have all year to allow for snow for a couple of weeks. Your running a business time off for weather and a bit of a holiday should all be costed into your pricing or you may as well be working for someone else, what's the point otherwise.
-
Try working in West Yorkshire where people want to pay peanuts for work doing .I only work in snow if it's all ready on the ground not if it's snowing. I found when it's snowing against the glass it was worse than rain for mucking the windows again
-
All these posters saying you can't work in bad weather and yet if I want to I do.
Just train your customers to expect it and if you feel like it do it. If you don't, don't.

Three of us worked all day on Friday. Chucking it down most of the day. No complaints.... so far. It's a business not a vocation.
-
Cause it's a business can't be doing with people that just takes a day of because it's a bit crappy weather . I have a mate that when he's out on a day where it's on off rain all he does is moan man up for Christ sake
-
i turned up at a £40 job on friday and it was quite windy(and its near a busy road!).cleaned the windows and was on my merry way.that night she paid me online like she normally does(wish all my customers were as prompt!) ;D
then i get a text the next day saying she was disappointed as she thought i must of missed a few windows out! ::)roll
i went round today and cleaned all her windows again and even scraped some paint off a few windows (where shes had some decorating done.).she came out with a large chunky kit kat and a coffee! ;D
i very rarely get a call back but when i do i always go above and beyond as i want to keep all my customers.i must admit a few windows were dirty.i think it was the wind blowing crap on the windows before they had chance to dry properly. ::)roll
it wont stop me cleaning windows in bad weather though.sometimes you have to if you want to keep to your work schedule and keep everything profitable and the money rolling in.
