Title: Resin beads on the glass???
Post by: Shrek on January 10, 2017, 12:50:33 pm
So.... a couple of weeks have gone by now and I've been rinsing windows and then seeing grit on the windows, so I scrub & rinse and rinse and rinse and yet this grit is still there when the water runs down the windows .
Is it possible to have resin beads in my tank?
I have an ibc in the garage and transfer the water from there into my van tank as and when needed.
Appreciate any help 👍

They wouldn't get any further than the pump,  pumps don't like resin, I know from experience.

Ah- does resin destroy the pump? Within what timescale?

Depends. A single resin bead can get stuck in the diaphragm - game over.

May seem silly, but is your brush clean? Are you rinsing on glass or off glass?

If do a rinse off glass, can you see the beads rinsing down the glass with water flow or are they stuck on the glass?

Is your hose particularly old? I have seen the rubber inside deteriorate although admittedly a rare accordance and on a cheapo garden hose.

I'm constantly cleaning my brush, I rinse off the glass as I couldn't get used to rinsing on.
It's after I've rinsed off , the water sheets down and then I can see 1mm bits of grit , it doesn't happen on all windows though...

I bought a new hose reel and hose from pure freedom last year, although I do have some garden  hose going between the hose reel and the trolley

Have you checked the small pump filter if you have one fitted?

I've not , that's what vyair just said too - it's a pure freedom trolley and I've never touched anything on it just in case I break it!
Il take a look , cheers

Are you sure it's resin beads and not little air bubbles? Sometimes I get windows where it really looks like there are resin beads all over it but they are actually little bubbles- sounds daft I know but it does give the impression of resin beads. The reason being is that you state it doesn't happen on every window.

I'm not 100% sure its resin , but it does look like grit or resin

It does, I reckon it's bubbles. Have a real close look next time and feel it with your finger to see for sure.

What brush are you using? fan jets or pencil? Reason I ask is I have recently started using an x line brush with rinse bar and I seem to be getting  similar to what your experiencing.

How about fitting a inline strainer from tank to pump (and) the water outlet feed to hose reel if DI onboard?  Sorry ive just read your back posts, if its a trolley system you have, just wack on a inline strainer (£10) between water the barrel and pump. Good luck m

Depends. A single resin bead can get stuck in the diaphragm - game over.

It can't mate. The diaphragm has three small filters/valves on it. There is nothing in that set up that will block if a bead of resin goes through it, and it will go through it, no problem.

Just to update , I changed the hose pipe which goes from the hose reel to the trolley unit ( cheap garden hose) .
I went to Window cleaning warehouse in Liverpool and replaced it with some black hose ( a lot stronger it seems) .
This was at the beginning of the month, since then , iv  not had any 'bits' on the glass 🤔
Maybe the garden hose was disintegrating , it did bulge in places .
Anyways , it's a cheap fix so if your getting bits on the glass , try this first 👍

From what I can make of this thread you don't have a inline filter fitted between tank and pump. If you don't have one get one they are only £12 it's a lot cheaper than a new pump.

Yeah I do , it's at the end of the hose that I put in my tank
