Title: Which van mounted wfp system so you recommend?
Post by: Jamie McNamee on January 07, 2017, 08:05:49 pm
Hi,

Whats the best van mounted system do you think?

Has anyone got a water genie system that can review?

Cheers

a water genie from the cleaning warehouse is the basic un-baffled wydale tank with a metal frame, this is the basic and low end system, the tanks are not really meant for transport as they have no baffles, you will get sea sick driving around with one

I would recommend you go for a pure20 from ionics set up IMO they are the best value for money out there from the manufacturers

Pure freedom is good for me. No issues after 5 years, it just lets me work! That's the aim, so thumbs up from me

I opted for the diy van system from purefreedom with the 450gpd RO, which i fill into an ibc tank in yard and then via a 150 lpm transfer pump, send it into the van before start of work (5mins).

Its a 500ltr upright wydale tank which purefreedom sell as a baffled tank, but it isnt. However it is a steardy tank, i use plastic play balls and punctured holes into them. I currently have 200balls in and it gives no wave effect.

To heat, there are a couple of options rather than spending a fortune on heating units from ionics or the like, either an emersion heater // some use tropical tank heaters and others portable hot water on demand type gas units.

Wouldn't want to be riding around in a van with that weight of water in an unbaffled tank.
Don't think your insurance would like it either.

With the split in middle, its 250ltr virtually in each half of tank.  With the balls in acting as baffles i dont get any rocking motion. Combined with bulkhead and securedly fitted its not a problem for me or   insurance company.

Its just a good job im not a humper lumper or i'ld be pushing max payload on van  ;D ;D

Surely having 200 balls in the tank would reduce the capacity of water it can hold.

Ionics have a budget range pure20 I think it's called.
They are baffled and crash tested may be worth a look.

Yes but I am guessing they still hold a lot of water that does not end up being pumped out of them, especially when they sit on the bottom as the tank empties.

It would help if you could expand on that rather than just saying what you’ve said. It doesn’t help anyone who’s in the market for new kit.

we  had a lay flat tank built to fit a new connect we desgined it the he wanted to have it payed the deposit ect ect ect , after 3 months of couldn't get hold of him along with  non stop bull and lies on the phone the day came too pick the new tank up , so off he  went only to find sarcgill had given up his unit and not told anybody ,

picked it from his house only to find it was a right dump hole , the new tank was stored outside , the reels had been put in the wrong place , along with the battery holder , any way he picked it up as it was fully payed for by this time and we sorted the reels out ourselfs

the lid as never been water tight , it air locks stood still on flat road , and after a year use it looks like it ten years old !!

need I go on about the rest of the stuff we bought off him that I send back to been redone because it wasn't the right size never to see them again let alone a refund

Same for me  I've had three purefreedom  van mounted systems, when I sold the vans I sold the systems fitted in vans for almost the price I paid for them.
In my opinion Good systems and value for money

Yes but I am guessing they still hold a lot of water that does not end up being pumped out of them, especially when they sit on the bottom as the tank empties.

They are the play pit type balls, with plenty of holes in them, good size holes as well. So   as the balls roll around it would be very unlikely that they would hold much water in to warrant being concerned.
Besides, ive never fully drained my tank in a day yet, not even close. I opted for the 500 as my van payload could handle all the collective weight and the larger size tank meant i never have to worry about running out of water in a day. So its more peace of mind really and not limiting my work load.

Purefreedom I would say are prob the best option .... they are engineers , reasonable prices and their kit is top quality .... I would also say that the water genie system is a good set up as are xline , GrippaTank and pure 2o ... but it's Purefreedom for me all day long ...

Wow! the price of these things!
Make your own, Youtube it or ask on here how to!
I made my own, the beauty of that is, when it goes wrong(if it goes wrong) you know  how to fix it - right there and then!
ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE, PEOPLE!
Wake up and stop being ripped off.
I no longer use a tank system, down sized to a barrel/trolly system. Also made that myself. You tube it!
Also, one last thing... Buy a Gardiner pole - proper job!
Couldn't make that - Sorry!

The ready made ones from places like PF, Gardiners etc are professionally built and engineered and use quality pumps, batteries wiring etc.
Pump, battery and flow meter will set you back £250+ then all the other bits and bats then the trolley itself.
By the time you've messed about you could have bought one complete for £480 inc VAT and be out there earning it back instead of faffing about sourcing stuff and building it.
They also look professional.

How many people/clients actually look in the back of your van??
It depends if your producing pure water in your van or not. If not all you need is a tank and a pump, preferably some type of flow controller as well. So if your going for this option, i wish i had the head knowledge i now have at the time of purchase. I do believe we pay over the odds for certain aspects required. You then need to decide which purifier you want.

Van mounts are better in my opinion, but thats down to water production speed. It also lools more professional i agree, but who are you showing??

I have the purefreedom diy system as said in an earlier post. My van inside looks very smart and professional. I would dare say i could have done it cheaper, but getting all the equipment in one go and from one source is worth that extra spend

Build your own.

1 x Tank installed solidly up against thebulkhead. Get a welder to make up a cage and bolt it through your van floor with spreader plates and angle iron.
1 x Outlet hose including 1 x inline filter
1 x Pump
1 x Hose to reel.
1 x Reel with 80 to 100m of hose on it.
1 x Gardiners pole.

What more do you need except an RO and resin chamber in your garden? Or if needs must in your van.

Utter nonsense about Wydale tanks not being good enough.

I've got a layflat 650 with two "holes" in it. Oh and an immersion heater.

No sea sickness, no issues. Nor did I have with a 400 with one "hole" in it in a Doblo.

I'm sick to the back teeth with these sea sickness claims, tanks not safe etc.
I worked for a company that said you have to secure your work bag/lunch box with the passenger seat belt, the tool box had to be secured to the passenger foot well. So what happened when you had a passenger or the tool box wasn't secured to the floor or an eye wash etc was out of date... It's all well n good putting these things in writing but in reality the UK could come to a stand still with workers being off with paper cuts.
I was reported for walking up the stairs with one hand on the hand rail and the other holding my lunch box, I explained to this wee arse hole what three points of contact was but they still reported me as I should have used the lift. I was then approached by a suit who wanted "a word".  Needless to say I made a song and dance about my ability to carry out my job if I had to use a lift every time I had something in one hand. There's being safe and there's being ridiculous.
