How would you reply to this request I clean 6 weekly at the moment, not keen on 3 or 4 monthly for the same price as 6 weekly but dont think custy will understand the increase?
Thanks for this, my partner will pay this tomorrow. Can we move the window cleaning for this property to every 3 months please. If this doesn’t work with your rounds then every 4 months will do.
-
I would simply reply with a firm no but if you need the money then say no problem but price will rise by 50% or 75% or 100% or whatever you fancy.
-
Unless it's a very large house (£100 job or so) it's 8 weekly only. Personally I would say sorry, but no. For me it was a mindset. Do it once and you'll do it again. Let someone else have the problem customers. You WILL lose that one unless you do as they wish without a price rise.

Hi , we don't do a 3 or 4 month round. Aside from that if and when we do turn up to clean the windows they will be dirtier and require more cleaning than our usual 6 weekly scheduled work. Best way foreward for you if you do not want to be on the 6 weekly round is to do a request clean with us, we charge £xxxx for this service, so either way we can accomadate you which ever route you want to go down......etc...
-
I clean windows as often or as infrequently as the customer likes and charge accordingly. Cleaner planner makes schedule changes easy to implement.
-
good post Jonathan.
I wouldn't do them for the same price at three months. Have done in the past and learnt the lesson. its like doing a first clean which will use more time and water.
I have had a few requests to alter the schedule lately and usually drop them, there are plenty of six weekly customers out there.
I think part of the problem may be wfp. The windows do stay clean longer due to having no soapy residue on them. But after six weeks they deteriorate quite a lot and at eight weeks they are almost back to a first clean situation.

All customers have to fit in with my schedule these days, I have too much work to fanny about pandering to their needs it's all on my terms now or I don't take them on. My round is supposed to be six weeks but often it's longer. Any 'not todays' are dumped immediately unless they come up with a viable excuse.

Personally I find when customers start to ask for longer periods its because they really don't want to be paying
for your service, either they can no longer afford it or having somebody keep their windows clean is low on their list of must
haves.
Do what ever suits you.

I agree! They only want the windows cleaned when they are dirty rather than kept clean.
Doing it every 3 months won't mean you have to go out of your way to clean them. They just get passed over every second clean. Increase rate accordingly - we go for 50% more.
Chances are you won't have this customer for long - that's our experience anyway.

Charge more. Aslong as you get your hourly rate it doesn't matter.
I have two days of 3 monthly jobs. Breaks up the monotony a little.

About 50% our work is 12 weekly
We offer 6 weekly and 12
12 weekly is about 50% more so a £30 six weekly becomes £45 for twelve weekly
the savings over a year is good for the customer as many out customers look at that way like insurance costs
We then split the twelve weekers over the six weekly round half one time and the next half on six weeks it works wells as we have many larger house which are 12 weekly if I wish to balance the days then I'll make a 6 weekers six weeks late there no too bothered
Any length over 12 weeks is a one off minimum charge £45 that's for a small1960 three bedroom,
But my round is sizeable and I feel confident enough to work this way

if its a fairly large property then yes but for an increased price.
if its a "run of the mill" 3 bed semi then no (but im 4 weekly/8weekly mainly).
take it or leave.

£135 for 4 cleans a year isnt that great for a customers savings. Id say what it does is give the customer dirty windows for most of the year. Why customers choose 12 weekly is madness as they get dirty on 4 weeks.
Fair play on your prices though £30 6 weekly. Id like to be the same as that.

Thanks for the advice everyone its all pretty much as I thought, price increase or drop.
-
So long as you are getting paid a decent rate I don't see any issue with any frequency. If you're not prepared to accommodate a quarterly schedule, I'm sure there's plenty window cleaners out there that are.
The trick is to charge accordingly.
The problem is they'll probably expect you to do it for the same price. :-\
-
I would say that a request to go from 6 weekly to 3 or 4 monthly is a roundabout way of saying they are looking at ways to cut back on their outgoings. What with ever increasing household bills obviously window cleaning is not on the priority list.
It's down to you how bad you want their business and at what rate you want to charge to keep them on your books or not.
As soupy has said already if priced accordingly then I don't see any issue as you can still make good money doing 3 monthly, ad-hock infrequent and one-off cleans.

trouble is those that want clean windows want a six weekly schedule, those that just look at cost will view it as cost rather than reasonably clean windows
Most of the time
Thanks I've worked hard on my average price according to cleaning planner it's about £37
It means I can work less days three is my goal nearly there
rest income is is as I build I'm taking on workers so it means this year I'm doing 4 days until I've enough for someone part time or full time

I agree with all above and when you adjust to please the next will be a six monthly request
