Ive just run out of baked beans - I need to go and get some.

Should I buy Heinz, cross and Blackwell or another brand ??

Also any advice on how to get out of bed and tie my shoe laces would be great ............ in fact if anyone local can come around and do this for me I would be grateful plus whilst your here can you go to Asda and get me some baked beans please.

I can post a photo of some beans if it helps ??

or in other words .................. can you not decide for yourself how to price the job ... heres some help .... estimate (guess) how many days you think it will take to do the job and times that number by how many £££ you want / need to turnover per day.

eg. 2 days x £300 = £600 or £584 so it looks like some long winded calculation has gone in to it.

Now heres the clever part if it takes 3 days .... learn from it ........... if it takes 1 day then pat yourself on the back  ;)

if you take longer than you think then you will know for next time and wont need to post stuff you should already know on here.

If you think any of this is sarcastic then keep an eye out for me on facebook as currently that's full of how much to clean this posts - which as you can guess annoy the f#@k out of me  ::)roll ::)roll ::)roll ::)roll ::)roll

There are many factors to take into consideration for pricing work up. Not just to work it out on a day rate like Ian suggested. That may give a rough guide I suppose but you could actually end up stitching yourself up. Meaning the true value of the job is worth more than you priced it at.

I like to try to extract information from the budget holder in a friendly chat first. You maybe suprised sometimes how much info they are willing to give to find out if they are wasting your time or not.

Try to calculate time taken  and Ballache factor.

For example if you want 200 a day and it looks a nice pleasant days work then that's your price.

If it looks a days work but full of van moves awkward angles and access issues etc add more on due to Ballache factor.

For example when I do fsg I charge more per hour than windows, because although it takes the same time fsg generally kills my shoulders and makes me swear a lot.

So you could use a swearometer scale to price

I would go for the Branston baked beans they have a more deeper/richer tomato flavour i find.

Get shoes with Velcro straps on them much quicker, you will be able to do both shoes up in the same time it takes to tie one shoe lace up  ;).

If you put a photo up make sure you show all sides of the baked bean, you will then get more accurate advice to your questions.

Hope that helps  :)

I'm sure the op is not as daft they make out to be as already has multiple vans on the road and operates out of an industrial unit.

The point I'm trying to make is that even if you posted pics of the two buildings you still would not get a sensible answer from this lot ;D

In that case, why is he asking the question? You'd av thought he would know how to price up work if he has multi vans on the road and works out of an industrial unit.

Subtle.

I like that.

The first house I'm doing tomorrow is £18. It has several windows, several doors and a small conservatory. Do you think I need to be charging more?

Yes, you should as least have a 12% service charge on top of that because its the week before Christmas.

OK so you're in Gillingham, Dorset, I used to live in Shaftesbury zzzzzzzzz
If I were you, I would use the search facility on this site; there is a lot of information regarding how to quote. It may give you some ideas. Ignore the Baked Bean analogy, although it is very apt.
