What an idiot
-
Good for this industry.
-
Pair of scissors?

There is no smoke without fire as they say. Still a moment of madness is all that it takes to land yourself in the crapper.

There is smoke without fire in Merseyside if you go cleaning the wrong streets. They are pretty Neanderthal around here. Funny thing is i clean in Upton, where i think (from looking at the news report) that it happened, and i clean in Baycliffe Rd where the stabber lives !!! ;D
I hope Mark Jones (the stabber) decides to canvass the local area to drum up new business and a new round for himself. That will be fun !!! ;D

I take it you have a pair of nail cutting scissors too ???
I worked in Liverpool for a week , everyone was great!
I did constantly hear sirens going past me and saw a lot of chavs of dirt bikes driving on pavements 🙄

Unfortunately anyone can buy/nick a bucket & ladders and call themselves a window cleaner.
There are plenty of nutters and x cons about no matter where you work...I call them "GET OFF MY PATCH brigade"
Worst ones as in this case are the idiots that buy a round from another idiot. Then have a falling out over it and one gets banged up.
Fortunately the window cleaners that I have spoken to and I've met quite a few seem decent hard working folk and understand that the custards employ them not the other way around.
-
Bet you the round is worth £52

Most disputes break out when one shiner starts rubbishing another shiners work to try and win it, Iv taken work
from other shiners where the customers have told me about the things they where getting up too, poor quality, missing windows and so on, I don't repeat them as even though I have no problem taking their work I wont be responsible for ruining their reputation, that ones up to them.

It's funny innit, I've gotten work where the customer has said things like that about her old window cleaner but I know that the outfit that was cleaning her windows previously was a quality one.
Most bad reports you hear from customers are due to miscommunication more than anything else. Cleaning windows isn't rocket science and I'm sure 99% of the time if they knew they'd done something wrong they'd have been happy to sort it.
-
To be honest I take what potential custards say with a pinch of salt as many will tell porkies just to try get you to do the work. These are generally the ones that turn out to be messers that other cleaners have dumped.

I have to agree with that, plus there are some customers that are impossible to please. I just dropped one that was on her third window cleaner in a year or thereabouts.

There is a certain amount of truth in that but your wrong if you think its all one sided , I would say a hell of a lot of shiners would
be in trouble if most people didn't just put up with and make do.
-
The majority of my work has come from taking it from other shiners and one of the biggest complaints was... Iv been with him
for years but since those guys have started working for him the quality is rubbish.
Thing is I don't think people like to complain so tend to put up with or sack the shiner without giving him/her the chance to put it right.

Genuinely, in the 6 years I've been going I've only ever heard that once. The most common complaint is "he just stopped coming round".
However, I think there is some truth in what you say in that employees don't have the same awareness that some customers are very fussy.

I think most customers are fussy if not the cheaper shiners would have all the work, that said there people who just like to
complain and are best avoided.

I live here mate. Other window cleaners are not great, its a myth. The unwritten rule is , you do not clean a street where there is already another cleaner. Thats how it works.

Lol I had a windy tell me him and a few other cleaners he knows won't go on each others areas. Just how it's been for years he say.
Well it's not anymore says me cleaning in his patch.

A close friend of mine, worked pontefract commercial work for years. But not the majority, that was by another chap, a questionable chap.
My friend was comfortable with the work he had there, however another chap had quite a size round as well. Rather than a turf war breaking out between these 2 fellers. The chap with the huge majority simply asked him how much would it take for him to move out the area. Well this man thought he was having a laugh and gave a ridiculously high figure. Several days later he got paid that amount to hand over his work and to stay out the area. Obviously he took the noney had he had additional rounds else where, paid off his mortgage and had a great holiday and continues working elsewhere. Certainly beats having scissors in face or knee caps drilled off

Nathan, i see a career for you writing for Walt Disney. Don't dismiss the idea straight off, toss them a few stories, then back it up with a few pictures of you..ahem!! Him... doing the job. If Disney doesn't accept the script try... Dermotts Hardest Window Cleaners or that dick out of East Enders with the funny eye.... he may go for it.
-
If you realy want to take over an area just to p others off do them for free for a whole year. That should sort out the men from the boys ;D ;D
-

I was thinking the very same thing.

Sure.

I live just over the water from Liverpool.
I wouldn't want to try and encroach on any shiners on the other side.
They don't mess about over there.
I've had small turf wars in other areas, there is no problem, but scouseland is a world unto itself.
-
Don't they breed pigeons over there?
-
It's like the wild west!!!!!!
-
Its amazing how some on here are so naive, because it doesnt seem real to them or do able they are quick to dismiss it as story telling.

If it's true why don't you set up in competition against him? Get your mortgage paid off too?

I liked it Nathan, The Godshiner, I'm going to make you an offer you cant refuse, I bet he even sounded like Marlon Brando. lol.

Dont need to, my mortgage is already paid off. I purposely stay clear from commercial work, for me its too cut throat.
Thats why i said hes a questionable feller. How else do you think he was able to raise such finance from. Im sure you lot on here are not truly protected from the real world that much! and dont know how to contact people of the questionable type or where to find them.
-
Nathan that's the blank cheque story, every town in the country will have one, take it with a pinch of salt.
-

Cut throat? How is getting a massive chq to bugger off cut throat?
-
Haha its gangster in ponty
Im sure this type of wars go on but it will likely be in poophole areas where these types tend to reside (liverpool and pontefract are not exactly posh for the most part)
so my question is why squabble with the local hardman shiner over a poophole, get out of there and go clean windows in nice areas where nice people live
-
I beleive the nicest people live in the poop holes your talking about Adam. I beleive the working class tip better and appreciate you a lot more than those with money.
In scotland and Glasgow there's a gentlemans agreement sorta thing where you don't go into another mans patch out of respect. Not because he's hard. But a lot of businesses are springing up and changing it now a bit. But that keeps you on your toes. Competition is good.
-
Unless you only work on 1 street for 8 hours a day , 4 weeks a month.... how the heck are you supposed to know who else works there?
Not only that.... if one of my well paying custards moves onto someone else's 'patch' , and it's still in the town where I work , I would simply carry on cleaning for them if they asked me. I certainly wouldn't say sorry I'm not allowed
-
I can remember carpet cleaning wars on teeside in the 90s was funny as watching three companys under cutting each other , then they started smashing up each others vans . staff were fighting each other in the street was quite funny utter idiots
-
Bet like this then. ;D
