Why would you need to seal a resin bonded driveway?

I found this site quite interesting if you know very little like me about resin surfacing http://www.pavingexpert.com/resin.htm

In the past we have used Pics seal on these, but forget it until spring time
When you quote check condition,  seen loads which have been ripped via tyres, cover ones arse  ;)

I found this site quite interesting if you know very little like me about resin surfacing http://www.pavingexpert.com/resin.htm

I did a large domestic (multi million pound house) extensive granite sett & sandstone drive for Tony Mccormack (who owns the site) in Cheshire.

Beautiful sweeping drive, 3 of us for 10 hours.

They had brushed in  resin mix between the setts and sandstone, industrial grade, all finished really well.

We had to clean it all down.

Started cleaning and I couldn't get rid of dusty  brush marks.

Told him and then told the client (homeowner) the problem. I suggested the drive had been sealed and the brush marks were underneath the sealing layer.

He was adamant that it had not been sealed.

I said I can't clean this, it was a four figure job and said because I wasn't getting the result I expected we wouldn't charge but wouldn't be doing anymore.

We were asked to carry on by the client and finished about 6 but we couldn't resolve the issue.

I sent the invoice to him and the client refused to pay.

I started legal proceedings and got the money.

The manufacturer was approached and It turns out there is a seal in the resin mix that can take up to four months to break down by sunlight.

His work is exceptional and very high level but he  doesn't know about our side of his work.

Thats a completely different surface....nothing to do with resin bound.

The comments weren't about the surface - if you reread my post it was about the website owner understanding our work and not fully understanding the products he was using.

I am aware of the differences between granite setts, sandstone and resin drives.

This has even less to do with the topic but a reasonable interpretation of your inclusion.

Hi rob
Totally agree
Not the first barbed  comment I have seen  from a certain person  on here .  Some aren't on here to help just to let you know they no more than everyone else .

Warning the op to check for damage before working on something is always a valid comment

John
