Hunting
Love this phrase, my dad says it sometimes. There's sumert wrong with my car bloody engines hunting.
Sick phrase
-
;D lol
-
U no u can change the pressure switch, Maplin has one that fits for £3
-
Any chance of putting a link up for it
-
I haven't got a link mate, only difference with Maplin one is there is an extra connector on it that's not needed just bend it and it snaps off
-
I'm sure I have seen picks of this switch before and it looks nowt like the sureflow one how does it fit new work the pump
-
Been on website and nothing comes up for pressure switch
-
I think this is the one
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/low-cost-standard-microswitch-gw71n
You take the presser switch housing off the back of the pump and the micro switch fits inside hence why you can't find the part that looks right.
There is also this one one eBay which has a higher current rating and looks to be the right part

Yep it's the Maplin GW71N you need.
You will also need to use smaller spade connectors.
-
The pressure switch on pump is the square bit at end two red wires going into it when you say take housing of what part do you mean

That's right JK.
The pressure switch housing is the black square bit.
When you unscrew it you will see the pressure switch inside.
Using a small flat screwdriver you can lever it out of the housing to remove it.
The new pressure switch will slot straight in.
-
Cheers buddy .do maplins normally have them in stock or have you got to order them
-
What makes you think its the pressure switch. Meaning what is the pump actually doing when switched on?
Do you run the pump through a digi controller if so does it come up with any errors?
-
Cheers buddy .do maplins normally have them in stock or have you got to order them
Normally do.
You can check stock in your local store on their website:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/low-cost-standard-microswitch-gw71n
-
Maplin have them in stock the link above is the correct one if u unsure still I have a few pumps in the van I can post pic of what u need to do
-
matt, can you post pis on here for future refference,
thanks
-
JK have you tested the pump with the bare terminals on the battery to see if pump is ok. water should come out of the reel if tap is open.
-
Cheers matt that would be great . Smurf I run it with just an on and off switch and one of my pipes have an inline tap but it's open fully .only way I can explain is when it's running it's sounds like it's trying to stop pump hope this helps
-
Tried everything Johnny I normally can pin point it straight away but this one's got me baffled lol
-
First of all I would check for any blockages like inline strainer, brush jets etc and for any kinked or collapse hoses including inside the reel itself. Have you tried running the pump without the hose reel connected. If so what happens then?
Also if you have any hoselock stop type connectors fitted check that they are on fully and not worn/broke. If need be as a test swap them over with normal hoselock type connectors and see what happens then.
-
It's on a trolly the only thing I haven't checked is the pressure switch and the hose fitting in use rectus 21 fitting s I have just bought some of those brass ones 26 fitting s I think
-
Could just be an electrical connector, try renewing them but clean the wires up first or trim them fresh. Clean the battery terminals with a bit of wire wool.
-
Checked everything dave :-[
-
By any chance do you have strainer with one way valve fitted in your trolley? if so it could be sticky valve.
-
I will pop pic up tomora I have 2 pumps in the van which I have take pressure switch off one and put it on other one. Was showing a friend last week hence old pumps in the van.
If the pump is trying to pump an all is well from pump to rectus fitting it may be the connector gone.
I have had pumps that pump are fine wen u at ground level but once the pole goes up the pressure has dropped that's why I have changed them in the past
-
Took the strainer of still doing it
-
When you put your finger over the end of the intake hose, can you feel the suction? The reason I ask is that
the only time my pump ever makes the sound I think you're describing is when the intake side is blocked
-
Will try that tomorrow ok 👍
-
Bit of a daft question can the two wires just be taken of the pressure switch and attached to the micro switch. And Matt are you still gonna pop a pic on here cheers Kev
-
recheck all connetions from controller to pump., one of my controllers was playing up the other day, green light flashing , then just going off, rechecked all wire connections, double checked fuse, came straight on, may be ontroller, have you a spare to try.
-
It's wired straight to an on off switch Johnny no controller
-

Bit confused as to what you mean?
The 2 wires are attached to the pump, they are just connected to the pressure switch by spade connectors.
Have yo got the Maplin micro switch and the new correct size spade connectors ready to go?
-
Going this afternoon. There are two red wires connected to the pressure switch can those be connected straight to micro switch without taking the old one off

The spades on the Maplin switch are a different size from the original shurflo.
I snipped the original plastic connectors off of the wires and crimped on the correct size spade connectors.
When you are in Maplin's buying the new switch make sure you buy some spade connectors to fit if you don't have an assortment already.
-
Ok will do. Matt was supposed to be putting some pics on of the micro switch connected up in think
-
Well I have bought the suggested micro switches from maplins how do i connect it and to which terminal s do i use cheers Kev
-
There will be 3 spades on the Maplins microswitch.
Just ignore the middle one and connect the 2 wires to the top and bottom spades.
I marked the bottom wire with some tape before removing the old pressure switch and then connected to the new one in the same order.

Had some time to potter so took apart my spare Sureflo. Not done this before but it is straightforward. Word of advise: Do this over a decent surface where you cannot lose small parts.
When you have removed the three screws that holds the PS on you will have this
(http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/milkman2912/Sureflo%20Pump/sureflo_ps_00.jpg)
Gently prise the two parts apart and separate taking care not to lose the small parts
(http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/milkman2912/Sureflo%20Pump/sureflo_ps_02.jpg)
Carefully remove the micro switch
(http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/milkman2912/Sureflo%20Pump/sureflo_ps_05.jpg)
When reassembled it goes back into the pump body like this
(http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/milkman2912/Sureflo%20Pump/sureflo_ps_08.jpg)
I found this part easiest to assemble as follows
(http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/milkman2912/Sureflo%20Pump/sureflo_ps_13.jpg)
Then screw the assembled PS back onto the pump body taking care to line up the two small lugs
Hope this helps :)

Luvely cheers buddy if it works it will save loads of money
-
Perfect pics there, 👍
I haven't had chance at all to take the top off the other pump to take an post pics, av been flat out all weekend.
Just be careful wen u take it apart that spring don't shoot off somewhere, as said above regarding the Maplin one has an extra prong on it I just snap it off.
Official shurflo ones r £35 I think
Maplin are about £3
Have no doubts about it working mate, u will be back to Maplin next week for a few spares
-
I think the official Surflo one includes the housing it sits in as well. Makes it an expensive bit of plastic molding.
-
One of window cleaning supplies on here sell the proper micro switch for sureflow it's just over £4 think it's wintecs
-
I would like to thank the guys that helped me it was defo the pressure switch I put in a new micro switch and it's working fine cheers lads ☺👍
-
Great stuff. Glad to hear it. You'll be buying a few of them to keep as spares now I'll bet ;D ;D
-
