Doesn't seem much to me what with the cost of chems and all :o http://www.shiningwindows.co.uk/soft-washing-milton-keynes-
What do you think ::)roll

If it's just the top half of the house he's doing then may be , I certainly wouldn't be doing a whole house at those prices

I think, instead of looking at other cleaning companies websites and picking, you show us your website and your prices ::)roll ::)roll
-
Woow! We have £350.00 minimum charge for a house.
-
I also thought it was very odd way to promote a service using paypal buttons and giving fixed prices and all.
-
Are those prices for just cleaning out the gutters?

To be honest all his prices are stupid, in my opinion it looks like someone hasn't had the info and just made it up.

You have a guy here that posts constant drivel, scouring the net to mock other companies yet displays no company info on this forum, its just a joke .
Smurf show us your company details - Please.
The company mentioned is actually based in our area I am not on here whinging about them, I only complain when you get clueless guys trying to clean roofs ;D
-
As far as posting drivel maybe I'm just interested to learn as much as I can about soft washing as it's all relatively new to me. My op was intending to just open a discussion about how little some seem to charge for this kind of service.
Put it another way realistically how many would want do a full length render wall clean on say a 3 bed detached house (4 plus walls including any extensions, porches etc) for £175? Not to mention usually if the render walls are in a state you can also bet any reconstituted stone lintels/sills, fsg's, barge boards etc also need cleaning too. Plus all the doors and windows will need cleaning afterwards to finish the job off properly.
Now £175 don't sound that much gross profit now does it for the amount of work involved. Less overheads like travel costs, time on the job, chems used etc surely?
-
Chemical use is about 50p / metre
-
When working out square metre total on say a domestic property (width x height of each wall). Would you take anything off for windows/doors?
-
Cheers BDCS. I suppose you could at least double that if using sh mix. Then treating the walls with ddac afterwards.
The average for a 3-4 bed detached full render jobby with a double treatment of sh mix followed by a ddac treatment would cost around 100 odd quid in chems alone surely?
-
if you look at the guys website content he is a very good operator and lots of good reviews so he knows what he is doing.
agree his render cleaning prices are too low for my taste however this is what happens when lots of window cleaners jump on what used to be a high priced service and start offering it.
however take a look at Thomas sanderson conservatory cleaning - they charge from £600 to £1200 for what some guys charge from £40 so high prices are possible if your proficient at your marketing.

Prices are very subjective. I want my car cleaned this week at my office! I was very specific when getting quotes. Nothing complicated
Wash & Dry outside (no polish)
Vacuum Interior (no washing of seats)
Clean all door shuts
Clean and vacuum luggage area
Clean all glass inside and out
Finally check exterior and remove any oil or tar marks left after normal wash
I insisted on no tyre or dashboard dressing or sprays.
Finally I told them all if it was cold or wet they could do it inside my unit!
I got quotes from 5 different mobile valet services ranging £25 up to £175???

I went for one who rang me back as a result of an email, offered me slightly more than I wanted, what he called their gold service. He offered me a fixed appointment with a start and approximate finish time of around 2 to 2 1/2 hours, a copy of his insurance, the name of the person doing it. He also told me the other things I liked and gave me a price of £30 with an invoice and payment on completion if I was satisfied. Finally he confirmed everything in writing with all the company details, address etc. I will tell you tomorrow how it turns out ;D

Kev, Just to be clear, he gave you a price of £30 for 2-1/2hrs work not including the additional time it took to do the admin and he was paying an employee to do the work?

I valet cars
I personally would have charged £40 for this, about an hours work at most
However i dont do mini valets anymore only full valets and above starting at £70
I could name a few companies round here that would do that for about £25
2 and a half hours for the above is crazy.
15 mins to wash with D.I water - let it dry whilst doing interior
30 mins to do glass, vac it out and wipe everything down
15 mins to go over outside with a tar remover

I don't care if it takes him an 1, 2 or 3 hours, all I care about is he does it and does it right! My main concern is that it's clean, the door shuts are clean and the glass is immaculate. The outside will be filthy on Thursday cos I am driving to Devon for a Boys Weekend away ;D

That's what he said! I was prepared to pay more and if he does a good job I will bung him a tip, one of my pet hates is cleaning interior glass and believe me there is a lot of it in my bloody car ::)roll

Glass is a nightmare to clean no matter what you do. It's my pet hate
Thankfully most people don't really inspect the car in that much detail.

Kev being a cheapstake will still want a perfect job and all for 30 squid ;D

Smurf
The word your looking for is "Cheapskate" and I think you are either mixing me up with you personally or Mike Halliday ;D
-
Me a cheapskate!!! I'm the opposite....... A spendthrift!! My wife moans at me for buying the most expensive available.
But this post raises a very interesting point about prices, that is how we impose our own budget or belief onto customers......... we think we can look at a potential customer and magically work out how much they are able to afford before they even speak a word.
So we walk into a home or office and think....... " these people are skint, no way will they want our premium gold service so I will just give the budget option"
It happens to me all the time, it happened last week. I went to a curtain sider company to get a new fitted cover for my trailer, the guy straight away looked at me in my scruffy clothes ( I had been cleaning out my unit so put on some old gear) and decided I was after a cheap job so pitched me a thin tarpeline cover with bungee ties at a low price.
But I had already decided I wanted a cover that would last and secure the trailer, price was not my major concern I wanted the best he could make.
I ended up spending double what he first quoted me.
-
I am the complete opposite:
When I am quoting for a job, the quote is based on how much it will cost me in wages, materials and a sensible profit. I don't care if they are rich or poor, in a council house or a mansion or whether they have a Lada or a Ferrari on the drive! My price is my price take it or leave it!
When I am buying I buy the best, but appropriate to what I want it to do! When I am looking for work to be done I do the same! So today I wanted the car valeted to have a clean car to go away in for the weekend with my mates so £30 did it and as it happens the result wasn't bad for what I paid! If I had wanted it cleaned to use as a Wedding Car then I would have paid more because I would have wanted it polished and all the seats cleaning and dressing as well. But ultimately I got what I paid for!
Now shoes are a whole different matter ;D
-
Kev , agree 100% . Give a price then be prepared to walk away if its not accepted . However not sure about the shoes !

I give a price roughly based on Kevs formula( apart from the 'sensible profit' I aim for 'huge profit' ) but also have a minimum price In my head that I will do the job for, if the customer is willing to be flexible on when the jobs done and what preperation they will do before I arrive then they can get a lower price.
Plus OAPS tend to be treated more favourably on price and usually gets extra work thrown in for free
-
For god sake don't mention bloody shoes or they will be taking hours about them ;D ;D

Hi mike
I agree we all have the same cost base roughly speaking , the only. Big variant I suppose is the owner operators working on the tools don't have wages..
The variants come from the profit margin on top , kev says reasonable you,say huge . But that's even subjective kevins reasonable might be 1000%.
I think the guy smurf spotted is way off but if he does 2 properties a day he is probably stripping his window cleaning money which to him is huge profit?
