Had a new customer, well 2 actually who are after a free clean. Not happy.
Thought about next clean, to do it with an oily brush. They will know its me. Possible CCTV
What do you think they could do. The money outstanding would pay for a re clean.
If they even reply to texts it would bother me as much.
Pay me, then sack me. At least I would be getting paid
-
Why you clean for freeeee??? I don't get it
-
As satisfying as it might be to do it, think of your business and it's reputation. The same people who refused to pay you for your hard work will be the same people who will bad mouth you to the rest of the area about your behaviour if you happen to go ahead with this.

Ive got one exactly the same at the minute.
Contacted me via email, agreed a price. I turned up she watched me clean the entire house and she said she would pay online.
No payment after two weeks, no replys to texts and hasnt answered the door thus far.
Absoloute scum, what kind of person does this? Ive thought exactly the same mate, what revenge can i carry out, but then you think what if cctv or neighbours see or shes in etc.

Revenge? Get a grip.
Confucius say: Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.
And about payment from problematic customers: Our greatest glory is not in never failing but in getting up every time we do.
And another: Put away the oily brush; you'll ruin your brush but not get arrested.
That last one isn't genuine, btw. I think it was Eddie Large that said that.

I had to write off about £70 of bad debt last year - some of this was from first cleans where after the clean they said they didn't have any money on them (which effectively meant they had no intention of paying me!).
Like you, it riled me at the time, but the best thing to do IMO is just move on.

Is any unpaid window cleaning bill really worth that?
Don't forget to wash out the super soaker before you give it back to one of the kids.

Sell the job on, for x12 the price!
-
You'll only get arrested if anyone calls the 'feds'
The way to sort the is kidnap the kids, demand the window cleaning money in exchange
You get paid, windows are screwed...win win
Safe

Why not just get your little mate sat on yer shoulder to do it. Then you can put the blame on him ;D
-
just move on mate.their not worth another minute of your time. ::)roll
i can honestly say ive always got paid after a first clean but ive had a fair few who never paid for their second clean. >:(
luckily its a minuscule amount of people in the general scheme of things that genuinely dont wanna pay you.scum springs to mind.

Always get the customer to sign up for GoCardless before any job is done, even 'walk ups'. I will wait in their drive until signed up.
No more of non payers.
Also cuts out the ones agreeing to scheduled clean, but wanting a one off.

I'm sure Duncan posted this as a windup after a previous FREE window cleaning thread ;D ;D

No. You're think of the Window Cleaning rounds for sale section, thats where you pay to be able to clean them, then hope after almost a year you have your money back and kept some customers. But still havn't actually been paid for cleaning in all that time !! :-)
-
Don't take a cocktail stick and push it into their front door lock and snap it off.
No. Don't do that. It would be unprofessional and criminal damage.
You wouldn't want to get caught doing that.

I'm going to start insisting on cash up front for all first cleans
I've got a small claims letter to go out for one at the weekend.
And then I defo won't egg it a 15 pack of smart price at a later date.

Adam don't let a few bad eggs ruin your business or wellbeing , its all part of the game when building a round or any business supplying a service to the public.
Seriously would you pay a shiner you didn't know in advance ? I know I wouldn't and it would be the same for many others.
Are you going to risk losing many potentially good customers to protect yourself from picking up a non payer once in
a blue moon.
I know its hard to let somebody get one over on you but for your wellbeing its better to let it go and get on
with looking after your decent customers which thankfully tend to be the majority.
-
Write all the address down and visit them 1 year later. They wont expect any eggs from you. Christmas eve sounds a good evening to do it lol

I would never buy a round off anyone myself as after all you are buying good will and nothing else which don't mean jack.

What I do is have a pre court letter. This customer owed me £90 refused to pay so I put the pre court letter out of envelop through their neighbours door accidentally on purpose. So their neighbour had to deliver it. Customer wasn't happy an rang me up. I said it was an accident as I was really busy. They paid out of embarrassment.
