Title: fiberglassing or protecta coating vans
Post by: dave f on November 13, 2016, 09:15:19 am: picking up a van next week I don't know what to do the floor in . in the past I have used protekta coat.but I find it hard to clean down .any one fiberglassed their van and what is the cost of fiber glass as apossed to proteckta coat

But if I really wanted/needed to , I would go with fiberglass.
Look on ebay for fiberglass roof kits. Loads out there with all you need inc. coloured gel coat. Just pick the kit with the square meterage you''ll think you need. Price wise I think its not far off what you would spend on Protectakote.

But if you must have a floor coating I would stick to Protectakote as its a lot handier to work with than fibreglass.

I've used Protectakote before but never again. Appreciate what Sean K is saying about easier to apply but a fiberglass kit imo will outlast Protectakote and look good for years. Worth the added effort if you are going to go to the trouble of applying anything at all.

on topic ive never used anything apart from cheap rubber mats on van floors and never had problems with rust even though i flood my van on a regular basis(at least once a month lol ;D)

Fibre glass is OK but it does affect the weight in the van as fibre glass is quite heavy.
If you are going to do it properly go with xx line or another company as these are very light weight . So your Pay load is not that much affected.
