Title: Gardiner ring jam
Post by: Space monkey on October 21, 2016, 11:44:12 pm
My super life pole no1 has a aluminium ring jammed at the base of it from pole no2 and I cannot get it free. Has any one idea how to free this trapped ring ?

Could you upload a couple of pictures to show the problem?

This is unusual  :(

I have never had to do this before, but if I did I would get something like a broom handle with a flat end and from the top of the section slide it in until it touches the top of the alloy ring, gently tapping around the ring to loosen it.

This is how we have released jammed gutter poles. I might add, put a nail with a largish flat head in the end of the pole so that you are using a metal piece against the ring, the wood may splinter and not work so well.

Just buy a new pole maybe or give it a good few whack’s and hope it don't break.

After saying that I still have an old omni gutter 2 part telescopic T1 Aluminium section that has been jammed inside the other  for donkey years as I gave up trying getting them parted  ;D ;D

I think it's SeanK who likes his ring jammed isn't it? He'll be along in a minute with a handy solution.

Thanks Alex, that works on poles 2-6 but I cannot find anything straight or rigid enough to fit down the top of no1 ,as the hole diameter is to small.New no2s are getting damaged.

use a small diameter curtain rail if it's metal and tap with wooden or rubber mallet.

Do you really need to free it ? Slack Bladder got his head stuck in his ring a long time ago and even though he was unable to
free it can still talk.
