Can any one recommend a decent water heater,
Without having to pay about £2k plus

Fastar 8L lpg water heater works well enough for me.

It's not bad for a chepo lpg heater as is 16 kw compared to an expensive 9 kw webasto type heater being sold by the likes of purefreedom etc http://www.purefreedom.co.uk/pure-freedom-isothermal-diesel-water-heater-9kw-2-operator-unit.html

How difficult is it to install smurf?
May get something like that just for con roofs, fascias and first cleans. Don't really see the need for hot water for everyday work though.

For me as far as the install went it could not have been easier as just stuck it on my old pf trolley and strapped the gas bottle where the container would go. Job done ;D
If I want I can run a garden hose to the heater from an outside tap so can use hot tap water as well for fsg's conny roofs etc instead of wasting pure when not needed. Its also still portable but I'm to lazy to take it out of the van.

eccotemp L10.I got mine from corwoods.comes with gas regulator.£300(including VAT and delivery)
what i love about it is you can have the water scalding hot if you want for filthy add on jobs/first cleans etc.its also bigger and more robust than the L5 and handles the water on full flow no problem. :)

The way mine is set up the heater goes after the pump to the reel so I guess you would need two of them if running a proper 2 man system using 2 pumps etc etc so to run them independently of each other.

Yes, when I used to run a 1 pump, 2 man system, it worked fine.
Mine was an L5.

I guess you just used a Y coupling on the outlet of the heater to both hose reels then?
Did you not find controlling the temp and flow to both poles doing it that way an issue when turning the water flow off/on from either pole?

everything needs to be upgraded mate if you ve been using cheap equipment .hose reels,hose,connectors,pole hose and brushes.tighten fittings even tighter and double clip them if possible.
the standard microbore from gardiners is now suitable for hot water.highly recommended(but your hose might be ok).hose reels need to be heavy duty metal ones(with no plastic spindle like the pure freedom ones!)i use rectus 26 for connectors and mainly use stiff brushes when using hot water.pole hose i currently use is exceed innovations blue hose but any PU hose will do. :)

Not really as we both work at roughly the same speed.. To be honest we don't really use the heater for hot water, just to stop it freezing and to give us nice soft hoses.

Thanks for all advice on water heaters.. have taken Smurf's advice and gone for Fastar 8L lpg. Have a big job coming up in 10 days. Currently using 6mm hose. It was suggested by other guru to use rectus connections. Any idea amongst the 100 's of connections I would need to connect from unit to hose.

I've got the fastar heater although under a different name, they're cheap and not built well at all but they certainly do the job of heating up the water and I like the fact they have a temp display too, I run mine about 45-50 degrees on the display and at the pole end I'm getting about 35 degrees which is luke warmish as I cracked a window a few years ago running it quite hot in the cold!!
Running at this temp too I find the Gardiner microbore and all season pole hose can just about take it without turning into silly string😂
I'd definately recommend one to anyone though just make sure you plumb it all in properly and have adequate ventilation like doors open or flue etc and be prepared for leaks when all up and running as everyone softens and loosens up!

The 20 min cut out is one of the safety feature on these type of heaters so should not be messed about with.
Anyway if you had bought a decent heater it's not an issue at all as when I turn the water off at the pole it resets no problem on mine. :-*
As I've mentioned before L5's are crap ;D

Xline systems have great heaters that run from fuel tank, well work a look,, you get what you pay for, i dont fancy tank of Gas in my van to be honest
