Title: For those who 'rinse on' ....
Post by: Shrek on October 04, 2016, 01:37:29 pm
Hi all ,

Iv been rinsing on the glass for the last 2 months and enjoying it much more!
However , iv noticed on a lot of jobs that there are still crumbs on the glass after iv finished, resulting in rinsing off!
My flow is on 60 , I now use a gardiners SL compact brush with fan jets . My question is , am I doing something wrong? am I going to quick? Do you have to push the brush hard on the glass for this to work ?
Any help.....
Thanks in advance 👍

I have found this too. I'm not sure it something you can 'fix' so to speak. It seems to depend on how much dirt is on the windows and or brush to start with.  Even working with my flow on full it still occurs though you can rinse the bits off quicker. As a result, I keep my flow on about 50-60% like you and rinse on when I can but when I see the 'bits' I rinse off.

To be honest I've found gardener red fan jets not ideal for rinsing stubborn bits off glass no matter what the pump flow rate is set on. I’ve not tried any others yet so can anyone recommend larger fan jets to try please.

All I've ever done the best way is to tilt and rinse you certain of a good rinse then,in order for this to work you need to turn up your flow though plenty of water with the brush close to the glass so you  don't get it bouncing off the glass making a mess. Still makes me laugh when I see people holding the brush 2 foot back from the window rinsing there the ones giving it a bad name.

Yep, sadly younget the odd ones like that. But ive done exactly what you have done, just rinse of the glass and chase it down the windows.

But it might also be worth checking how clean your brush is to begin with, as they (as you no doubt knw already) soon trap cobwebs n bits inside the strands on the brush which can contribute to it as well.

I tend to run a cobweb brush around frames, sills, glass etc first if bad.
I do luv a good cobweb brush don't you know and customers luv it too  ;D  ;D

I seem to be cleaning my brush after every window lol
Iv done my windows in direct sunlight with a scrub and a little rinse and I'm so much happier.
To think back when I first started , I used to be scrubbing the window for ages and then rinsing for ages , it's surprising how less is sometimes more!

This is the sort of thing that loads up your brush. Downstairs you can carry a cloth to wipe down cills but upstairs it all ends up on the brush. Good fun

Has the SL compact got shorter bristles than the ultimate?

I think so , not in my van at the mo so il check later - it doesn't splay like the ultimate, it's a lot more stiffer , it's given 3 ticks for rinsing on , the snail trails / hard bird poo are a breeze though , fantastic on first cleans , heavier than the ultimate but I don't mind

Sounds like a nice brush. I'll have to give it a try. The snail trails are on the increase just now

I've used the supreme soft and flocked for the last year but recently starting reusing the supreme medium and I fitted the bigger pencil jets, I think they're 3mm but they give a heavy flow rather than a bouncing squirt off the glass and give a nice wave type rinse on the glass and I've started rinsing on lately, never done it before so I'm still growing in confidence with rinsing on but it's definatly saving me time over the day and no complaints yet😂
Really fancy trying this so compact or the ultimate next but I do like the way the bristles splay out on the supreme when you look it not touching the glass, they come out at an angle and I find wiping across the sills the stock doesn't scrape the sill, tried the xline flocked and was scraping that all over and was too heavy over the day for my dicky shoulder😳

love em pal not sure why many others dont, they splay nice and the stock doesnt stick out further than the bristles.
the soft is good for regular cleans but ive just gone back to using the medium at moment for some reason!

It is surprising sometimes you stick a brush on and dislike it but see it months later and think I'll give that another go tomorrow lol

The compact bristles are actually about 5mm longer than the ultimate , fantastic brush though

Thanks for that Shrek. I've not used a medium only mono brush for some time. It tend to favour flocked or medium soft brushes. However, as I'm hoping to get a new pole soon so might get one then to try out.

i find rinsing on the glass better if you have a swivel loc on the brush and twist the brush from side to side as you go from top to bottom...Just my opinion

A cobweb brush works well at any height mucker.

Do you carry a separate pole for the cobweb brush Smurf, or just switch it for you your wfp brush?
